Owner description: One of the strangest sights in Lucca is this fifteenth-century home, with a battlement tower surmounted by oak trees whose roots have grown into the room below.

This is a well run museum with information in English (which we are finding not all attractions have) and it is free! When we were there we had the whole museum to ourselves, so had plenty of time to read the leaflet and enjoy the corresponding pieces of art. The rooms are laid out by period of history and there are some paintings by local artists. Well worth a visit.

A good place for a wet day. the Palace is renovated and modern inside, an art gallery rather than a museum or palazzo. But if you want an introduction to the development of art in Lucca from 13th century to 18th this is the place to come.

I can only repeat what the previous reviewer said -such a shame more people don't visit this lovely museum. It's a little gem and is well displayed and well worth a visit. There are some lovely pieces of art work and the beauty is that it is peaceful and uncrowded as well.

The Museo Nazionale di Villa Guinigi is a beautiful museum. It's collection spans from the Etruscan period to the Neo-classical. The various artefacts and paintings are well displayed in a modern fashion. We certainly got away from the crowds here, but that was a shame as it is such a good museum and deserves more visitors.

Includes a great collection of Roman and even Etruscan finds from the area as well as paintings from Tuscan artists. Very well curated. Definitely worth seeing. A beautiful small museum with some wonderful ancient objects.
