“Best 3 star hotel of our 2 week European tour”

We were so very pleased with this hidden gem in Lucca. It is a bit hard to find and walking through a graffiti ally to get to it made me quite worried, but the rooms were delightful. Ask for one of the newly renovated rooms. We stayed in the tre scalini. The bathroom had a whirlpool tub and huge stone shower with bench. There was a free computer to use in the lobby as well. Breakfast was also delightful! Can't wait to go back to Lucca!

This hotel was recommended by the Tourist Office in Lucca. We arrived and found the hotel in need of a cleaning. The walls in the entrance area and in the two rooms we viewed were in bad need of washing--everything looked grimy.

The front desk clerk confirmed our decision to find another hotel. I asked her if she spoke English and she answered, "No Arabic". How to make a positive first impression! She seemed very surprised that we opted to leave.

The hotel is situated just off the Piazza del Giglio, close to the walls of the town and with easy access to all the local shops, bars and restaurants, bus and train stations. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and recently refurbished. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend.

We stayed for 4 nights in the off season . The family who run this were very helpful and friendly, We found Lucca one of the highlights of our 30 day visit to France and Italy. We visited 4 restaurants at their recommendation - all great.

I would stomgly recommend this place . It is not 5 star , but it is local and very good.

We stayed here for three nights. The hotel is in a very secluded corner of lucca but is also just a few steps away from some of the important sites like the duomo. We had a suite ( the two bedrooms plus a bathroom). The rooms and bathroom very spacious and clean. The furnishing were very simple and old fashioned but space to move around and for our luggage was more important. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied and eating outdoors under the umbrellas was very nice. Alessie and her assistant were fantastic, friendly and very helpful. So were the other night staff. They made the place feel more like home. We will highly recommend this place.

We stayed one night in Albergo San Martino. It is really a perfect hotel. We had some difficulty finding the hotel because not all the streets are available by car. But when we finaly get there, there was a warm and helpfull welcome. My husband, who had parked the car in a garage was helped to the parking near the hotel. We had two beautiful and very comfortable rooms. The breakfast was very good with all kind of bread, cakes etc. Even our daughter enjoyed the breakfast (they aren't normally fan of breakfast). The staff of Albergo San Martino is very kind. Everyone is super friendly and helpfull. When we get back in Lucca we will certainly book at this hotel.
