We stayed in Lucca for a week and enjoyed meals of a very high standard almost without exception. This place was however our most memorable of them all. We loved the atmosphere; Pasquale was a great host and truly passionate about food and wine. The Caponata was remarkable and the risotto the best we've ever tasted in our lives!

We didn't have a bad meal in our 2 weeks in Italy (thanks in large part to Trip Advisor!), but our dinner at Da Pasquale in Lucca was one of our favorites.

We let the Mr. Pasquale choose our wine for us. Our only request was that it be locally sourced and on the dry side, to go with seafood. We only had one glass and it wasn't expensive, but it was delicious and my husband still talks about it. My big regret is not finding out its name!

The eggplant appetizer was delicious - the best veggie that we had in our entire stay in Italy!

For dinner we chose to have two different pastas, both seafood based (one with a delicate white fish, one with squid). We wanted to share both pastas, so they split each serving onto two plates, served separately - a nice touch! (most other restaurants wouldn't bother doing this) Both pastas were wonderful!

We had a blackberry dessert - also delicious.

We made reservations in advance - highly recommended.

We would love to return to Lucca, just to stay at Il Seminario B&B again (see my separate review on that wonderful B&B), ride bicycles around the town, and...to have another delicious and elegant dinner at Da Pasquale!

We loved it here. Pasquale squeezed us in even though he was fully booked and we really appreciated that.

The food was gorgeous - amazing that the chefs can make such cuisine in such a small kitchen. I recommend the Chef's Choice starter. Pasquale told us all about the wine we'd chosen, it turns out this particular Sangiovese is made as part of a project to help recovering drug addicts and profits go back into the project - it was a great wine too.

The atmosphere was lovely. We sat outside in a courtyard that's a genuine city living courtyard - surrounded by old apartments and Lucans going about their daily lives.

The team couldn't do enough for guests. Service was a little slower than I think Pasquale would like but we didn't mind at all - like I say, he was fully booked and a small kitchen - but Pasquale did all he could to make the evening enjoyable. He even gave us our two Sambucas on the house.

We definitely recommend the restaurant - make sure you book so you don't miss out.

Thanks team Pasquale.

Seriously impressive restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious. Had some creamy ravioli which is one of the best dishes ive ever tasted, and the beef steak was out of this world. The service was top class too, both from the our main server but from Pasquale himself, who came to discuss and recommend wines, he also offered us complimentary prosecco and dessert. He was also v accommodating in finding us a table when we tried to book one night before - which was appreciated as the restaurant is clearly very very busy. And pasquale who is clearly a v busy man makes time for every customer. Simply one of the best restaurants ive ever been to.

If you're in Lucca you HAVE TO eat at Da Pasquale! You will be enchanted by the ambience and fabulous food, wine and grappa. The place is always packed ,the owner always there to great you and chat in English, French or Italian about the irresistible menu as well as about wine and multiple olive oils that he knows inside out. Thinking about Da Pasquale makes me want to jump on the plane and eat there tonight. Oh, wait I'd have make a reservation well in advance but it's well worth it!
