The setting is lovely. The house and garden a perfect back drop to a night in a traditional Italian country home. Large rooms, high ceiling. Breakfast in the garden was delightful. Staff were very helpful. Pretty much matched expectations

Excellent place to stay - steeped in Italian history - lovely hotel in beautiful grounds - although the hotel was almost full it was so quiet and relaxing. Places to relax by the pool, around the hotel and in the exquisite gardens. Staff on hand but not obtrusive in any way, recommending places to visit and where to eat in the locality.

Beautiful villa, which provides all the facilities of a hotel, located in beautiful surroundings on the outskirts of Lucca and on the road and very close to Piza. It is like staying in the country in a Duke's mansion with all the modern facilities, but then only several minutes drive from Lucca's historical center and 20 minutes from Piza. We were several couples on a two week trip through Toscana and this was the place everyone enjoyed the most. It is also very close to the highway so a perfect place to take trips to Cinque Terre, Montecatini Terme and other nearby locations.

My wife and I decided to visit Lucca on a 3 day 'City Break' and decided to stay a little way out of the city which I think was the right thing to do as this hotel, obviously once a sumptuous private house, fitted the bill exactly. The Rooms were an ideal size and the bed was very comfortable. Air Conditioning works well although we didn't actually need it seeing as our visit was in early October but the pool at the hotel was still in use but the water was 'bracing'. Breakfast buffet very good but I would have liked less cakey' croissants but that is a personal choice. Service from all the staff was excellent and as another reviewer mentioned especially from Reception. In particular we found Silvia very helpful and friendly. As to Lucca itself we found that 2 days was about enough in this beautiful but small city so on the third day the hotel reception organised a wine tasting trip in the Montecarlo area, a local wine village, which was thoroughly worth doing. All in all we'd very much recommend this hotel.

This ancient building would have so much potential, the mansion is very beautiful, the service people also try their best. But everything is run down, rotten and not kept with love. What a pity! Not worth its money. Breakfast is not even worth of going into detail.
