The location of Al Tuscany is unbeatable and Claudio wants to make sure your stay is the best.
He is helpful with train schedules and just about anything you could ask for. We mentioned to him we were going to rent bikes and he offered the use of two he had. I am not sure if he always has them, but bike rentals are easy to rent in Lucca. We stayed three nights and were happy to have such a comfortable place to sleep. The breakfast was fresh orange juice, cereal, coffee, lattes or cappuccinos, tasty pastries, breads, cheeses and meats. When you arrive Claudio makes you feel like you have just arrived at your lovable uncles home.

Claudio was very hospitable and constantly wanted to please. It was lovely to be offered a coffee/tea and cake when we first arrived. The cobblestoned streets of Lucca were easy to walk around and the B&B only 15 minutes walk from the train station. Our room was comfortable and homely with bottled water in the fridge. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in his kitchen if needed. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Claudio very kindly served us breakfast early and drove us to the train for our early departure on our second day. Wi-fi was not available in the rooms however after discussing this with Claudio he was looking into getting it boosted.

My husband and I stayed at the Al Tuscany for one night during our big European trip. We arrived on foot from the train (about 15 min) at about 10.30am, hoping to drop our bags off to go sight seeing. The lady who greeted us spoke very little English (she may have even been the cleaner) but showed us to our semi-prepared room so we could leave our bags.
The room was very small with a tiny little bathroom, even by European standards! The room was chock-full of antique looking furniture but everything was clean.
The hotel was in a very central location for sight seeing and within easy walking distance of all the major sights and plenty of restaurants.
When we returned to the hotel later that evening we were greeted by another girl who checked us in formally and made sure we were comfortable. Her English was excellent.
Sadly we didn't sleep terribly well overnight as the mattress was very saggy in the middle so that my husband and I were constantly waking each other up and the pillows were very flat. The bathroom was challenging to use as the shower was placed diagonally across the corner of the bathroom with a half size glass door so water went everywhere while showering.
We finally met the manager the following morning. He was surprised that we were uncomfortable on the mattress as apparently no one else has ever complained about it, but said that he would replace it. Other than that he was a wonderful host during breakfast, constantly offering us food and drink, including wanting to replace my husband's coffee because he didn't seem to be drinking it fast enough!
So over all it was fine for a one night stay but I don't think I'll be rushing back.

Claudio the owner is a lovely person and very helpful. We loved our stay at Al Tuscany which is super well-located next to one of the shopping streets (via di Roma). Lucca is a great city, full of life. We were amazed that shops are open even at midnight!! The breakfast was okay, not very rich but we were quote spoiled during our road trip in Italy so our expectations were high. The elevator is a bit funny, I spent some time going up and down at first, then I got the key for the lift and it was okay. As for parking, we arrived by car in the walking area where the B&B was located but felt very weird. We parked outside the walls but there are small parkings inside also. Claudio registered our car with the local authorities so we are not fined for entering the walking area. Last but not least, our room was huge. We were three and it almost looked as an apartment. Claudio gave us a bottle of water for the night, which was appreciated. He also speaks English so the communication went very smoothly.

We wanted to try something new on our two weekend trip to Italy, after many nights in hotels. we were very satisfied with our experience! In Lucca town we couldn't have meet a nicer place and host! Claudio gave us good tips about the town, and free bikerental! The rooms are clean, Nice, and the air-con is tiptop! He ask about our plans, and adjusted his services according to this. We could easily walk from the trainstation, ca 10 min walk. Claudio was very helpful when we were going to visit friends outside Lucca town, he offered to drive us, and we had the best drive ever, throu the fields, free of charge! He is proud to show his visitors his town ! Thank you Claudio!

I only stayed here for one night only with my wife and my daughter and her fiancée. The owner (Claudio) could not have offered better service e.g. on arrival he discovered that it was my daughter's birthday and rushed out to buy a delicious birthday cake which he served up with sparkling wine! The next morning he served my wife and I breakfast an hour before the official breakfast time as we had to get an early flight. The accommodation itself is set across the top floor of an old house within the town walls. It is fitted out with period furniture but also has air conditioning and Wi-Fi - a perfect combination of old and new. We had a bedroom at the back of the house which had a lovely outlook over gardens and part of the old town. It was very peaceful at night. If I go back to Lucca I will stay here again.

This has got to be one of the better deals out there for staying in Lucca, central, clean, comfortable, inexpensive, wi-fi that works, plenty of hot water in a clean bathroom of decent standard and a good breakfast included.

The staff, owner Claudio cannot do enough for you with tips on the city and things to do. he even drove us to the station when it was raining instead of calling us a taxi.

Mille graci.
