“Fantastic stay in Lucca!”
Reviewed 14 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We had a wonderful stay at Luciano's apartment in Lucca. The apartment is very easy to find and is just a short walk from the train station. Luciano was very welcoming and helpful and the wine and cake were a lovely addition! The apartment is perfectly located; shops and restaurants are all close by as well as key sites within Lucca.
Would definitely stay again.

“It worked out great!”
Reviewed 26 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Casa Sophie was just what we thought it would be. Location couldn't have been better, king bed comfortable as were the pillows (important to us), kitchen small but quaint & had everything we needed. Bathroom had 2 shower curtains to help prevent everything from getting wet. Convenient to Lucca "Walls", train station & Viia Fullingo. Luciano greeted us with bottle of wine & cake, gave us helpful information & was kind to let us keep our luggage in apt on check out date until later in day.

“Excellent value apartment”
Reviewed 26 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Casa Sophie is a really good value apartment in an excellent location in Lucca - within the walls and a short walk to lots of lovely restaurants, but in an area that still felt vibrant with lots of local people using the bars, cafes and restaurants. It's an excellent location for a car-free holiday, as it's a short, level walk to the train station.

The apartment is really well-equipped (especially the kitchen), super-clean and had masses of storage space. Yes, the shower room is tiny, but Luciano is very clear about this and I think is reflected in the price. I would book again if I returned to Lucca.

Nice to have wi-fi and effective air-con.

Luciano is lovely, patient and helpful.

“A wonderful vacation rental”
Reviewed 8 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

My wife and I (and our toy poodle) stayed in this wonderful one bedroom apartment. There was good lighting, lots of storage, and a comfortable living room/ dining room space. The bed was comfortable. It was clean and very nicely decorated, clearly having been renovated not long ago. The apartment was very quiet, located in a quiet area just past the edge of the pedestrian only zone. It was a very short walk into the heart of Lucca. It was a very short walk to the (more expensive) parking lot and a reasonable walk (7 minutes) to the longer term cheaper parking lot. Lots of amenities included, such as a nice sized frig (with freezer), a washing machine, 4-burner gas stove, full sized oven and even a microwave oven (on request). Everything we needed was included. Air conditioning included, although it wasn't warm enough outside to try it. The heating was excellent and we had complete control over the temperature of the apartment. The very fast. reliable wifi was a big plus. It was the best wifi we hit on our entire trip. Luciano was very friendly. He helped carry our luggage up to the second floor (one flight up) and he gave us gifts of wine and the local special bread on arrival. Like a good landlord he stayed out of sight until needed, even though he and his wife live just next door.

The only minus for this apartment was the bathroom. As mentioned in prior reviews, the toilet and shower both occupy the same very small space, reminiscent of a motorhome toilet/shower combo unit. Hot water was not a problem but the water pressure was variable. This is apparently a problem for the building and perhaps the neighborhood, so I can't fault the landlord. Everything in the bathroom works fine.

In conclusion, we really enjoyed our stay at this apartment in Lucca and I would recommend it to others. Despite the small bathroom/shower situation, because the apartment was so nice in every other way, I would consider returning to this apartment for a future stay.

“A great find”

We had a fantastic stay in this Lucca apartment. Great location on a lovely street just inside the Lucca walls and close to one of the main squares. Lots of cafes, shops and restaurants nearby.
Apartment was very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you might need. Only possible downside might be the tiny bathroom - shower over the toilet - but this didn't bother us.
Luciano was really helpful, he picked up up from the train station even though it was late at night and in the middle of a thunderstorm!! He recommended local restaurants, showed us how to work the wi-fi and even got the world cup on the tv for us. Also lovely to find there was a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting when we arrived.
We would definitely go back to stay at Casa Sophie and have been highly recommending to friends and family.
