I was very impressed with this hotel and its location. It is right opposite the railway station and also the airport bus stops right outside only a ten minute ride away. The staff were very helpful and freindly, There was a great range of food for breakfast, the room was fine and appeared to be recently upgraded, the beds were comfortable, bathroom very nice with good toiletries to use. It was also quite reasonably priced. Good location for walking into town but a bit of a trot if you want to see the Leaning Tower. (We didnt ) Just five mins walk away from a very good family run resteraunt - Lo Schiaccianoci in Via Amerigo Vespucci - beautiful Italian food and wine - can highly recommend and reasonably priced too.

... having driven for 6 hours across Italy, having stayed in various styles and grades of accommodation, the greeting received at this hotel by the male receptionist was in a class of its own. I entered the building smiling, tired, and not looking my best it has to be said, and he just looked at me in the most disinterested and dismissive manner, and when I asked him where the car parking facilities were it was almost too much for him to answer in an audible and polite manner. Undeterred at this stage I returned to the car and duly found the garage, where the most helpful and jovial young man aided and assisted us to park. This turned out to be an unusual moment in the service this hotel offers. Upon returning to reception my partner and I found the same man, watched by his female colleague who appeared not to speak any English, and were subjected to his staring at the computer for some length of time, only to be given a room that would not enable anyone to enter with any luggage due its constricting size, one pillow on the bed, and, a shower that was a positive health hazard. For this they were asking the princely sum of 109 euros. Deciding that enough was enough I once again approached said man at reception and was greeted with the same disdain, but was offered another room. Amazingly this had a bed big enough to sleep two people, toiletries, a bath and air conditioning. How could this not have been offered in the first instance? I can not bear to be reminded further of this place or the rudeness of the reception staff and will therefore end by saying that the food offered at breakfast bordered on the worst I had eaten anywhere in Italy, and the service appalling. However, on collection of the car the service was first class ... for the sum of 19 euros it was almost worth it for the civility. Never would I stay there again, nor would I advise anyone else to do so.

Room Tip: twin beds overlooking station

we flew in from Belfast on 31st July 2012 and hopped on the airport bus. we had pre booked the hotel. the bus left us off at the front door of the hotel. the room was modern clean and comfortable. good shower etc. we eat out that night and spent a comfortable night in the hotel. breakfast was reasonable and fresh.

we had read some reports prior to going about dirty carpets in the hotel but we did not evidence any such thing. we had a good stay and have recommended the hotel to two other couples who have also had good expediences there.

very handy to the trains when moving on

We booked the hotel for one night incl. breakfast, before an early flight out of italy.
We were positively surprised by the room. The location is good, as everything in the center is in walking distance (campo about 20 minutes).
A big minus was the service. We asked if we could get a breakfast to take out the next morning, as it was included in the price. The only answer we got was: This is not possible. Over there is a coffee mashine, where you can get acoffee in the morning.

A nice clean hotel opposite the railway station (also 5 minutes from the airport). Good things are that the room was clean, the deal was reasonable and everything worked. not so good was that check in seemed to take an age, the bar was totlly soulless, and the bed cover was minimal so I froze. Breakfast was fine but nothing special

We have stayed in this hotel a number of times over the years, and have noticed improved room facilities and considerable refurbishment. The location is excellent for what we need, being a 10 Euro cab fare (this hasn't changed for years!) from the airport and facing the square outside the rail station. Rooms are bright, modern and airy, though not all face the Piazza. If you just want an overnight stay, it's perfect.
Also, a short train ride away is the wonderful old town of Lucca, where you can wander on the top of the old city walls the meander through the narrow streets. If you're lucky, like us, there'll be a market taking place. The one we enjoyed was devoted to antiques.
If you want to visit the tower, baptistry and cathedral, it's approximately a 30 min walk past shops, restaurants and other squares, with the bridge over the river Arno splitting the walk into two halves. Easily managed unless you have serious walking difficulties.
One of the best features of the hotel is its restaurant - generous helpings of seriously good food, wonderful service and an excellent wine choice. We planned our last visit after 2 weeks in the Tuscan hills to finish with a lovely meal and a bottle of Vernaccia. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed that night (a Saturday) and the always friendly, efficient staff were most apologetic, but no-one could offer an explanation. Luckily there are other restaurants in the vicinity, but they're really not a patch on the Cavalieri.
Shame! But better luck next time we hope.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor facing the piazza for a combination of view + peace and quiet.

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel, if we considered the room and the great bathroom. The breakfast was ok and with plenty of choice.

Regarding the negative aspect, and the reason why I do not rate it better, it is concerning the way that the reception handles your arrival and departure. They were not really warming and provided me a card key that did not work. When I went to the reception so they could activate the card key, not even an apologize or a work regarding their mistake.

If you go for the rooms and do not mind regarding the customer service, this is a perfect hotel.
