“A Pisa gem”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

The approach to the hotel, down a narrow lane, masks a little gem. The staff are friendly and helpful, our room was good size, clean with a comfortable bed, decent view from the window (third floor) and pretty quiet. Bathroom had all the necessary items with a shower and was clean with constant hot water. Breakfast is typical continental, however there is a good choice and it is more than edible. The tower is about 400m away and there are plenty of good restaurants around the hotel. The area is around the University so its lively with student type cafe/restaurant/bars and prices. All in all good accommodation at reasonable price.
A word of advice though. If arriving by train and walking the 500m. Direct access is up a busy shopping street to the bridge. Once across the bridge ignore the Google maps directions which take you through back alleys. Walk along the river to the first main road, turn right and on to the third opening on the right, directly opposite the Church. Up the lane you will see the flags above the hotel entrance.
For the best ice cream visit the small shop in the square at the end of the bridge, The best coffee is situated facing the bridge under the portico.

Room Tip: Upper rooms quieter with a better view

My & my fiance had stayed in this hotel just weekend gone and I can honestly say this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in .. We weren't expecting much since it was the cheapest option available but if you can't even take a shower in your hotel perhaps you shouldn't be a 3 star property!!
Explanation of the staff who walked into the room as I was half naked trying to get a shampoo from my hair by using a cold water from the sink was 'the hotel is fully booked that's why there's no water on 3rd floor' was shocking. There was no apology or anything!
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone! The bathroom was very dirty, dust everywhere .. & kettle that was in the room with one coffee & one sugar for two people wasn't even working ..

The hotel was average quality for Italy at a reasonable price. The rooms were clean and the beds were average comfortable. The front desk was friendly and very helpful to answer our questions. They provided a map of the city and gave us directions when asked. We were also allowed to park our car in front of the hotel, which was great since parking in Pisa can be messy. Breakfast was average for Italian standards.
The best aspect of this hotel is the location - very close to the river and center of town with shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. The leaning tower is also very close; we walked and it took us about 10-15 minutes.
Would definately stay here again when in Pisa.

Room Tip: If you are parking backout the way you came it...there is no room to exit if you keep going straight...

Intimate hotel with a warm, even at home. Receptionist greeted me smile. He immediately asked me, quartered and each time was passing by the reception you're okay and that nothing I lack. It was very nice. Hotel perfectly fine. Support for cleaning rooms at the highest level. Delicious food in a restaurant. A nice facility was that the staff is absolutely helped in all matters. I organized tour of the city and bought a train ticket for me! Although theoretically the hotel does not offer such services was not no problem doing it for me. I recommend!

We arrived Leonardo very late, but had no difficulties with our check-in. Helpful receptionist also gave us good advice where to find an open restaurant nearby. During our four nights, the reception was always run by helpful and English-speaking staff. Room, though a bit tiny, was clean with wooden floor (no rugs on the floor!) and a fridge. Quiet atmosphere, as the hotel is in a narrow, quiet side street. Pisa is a small town, and Leonardo is in the heart of Pisa. Very good choice!

A really great hotel, we had difficulty finding at night, but it was well worth the trouble. The staff were extremely helpful, the rooms were clean with all amenities including a fridge and safe. It is convenient for the tower and the Duomo and there also some excellent reasonably priced restaurants serving local dishes that the staff will guide you to. Being in the back streets the hotel is comparitively quiet, but feels quite safe when walking about at night. Breakfast was extremely good offering a complete range of cereals fruit and full continental options.
