We stayed at the San Ranieri in June 2012. Check in was quick although the guy who checked us in was anything but friendly. The room was modern, quite small but had all the amenities you needed. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the airport which made it very easy.

There is a bus stop outside the hotel and the bus takes you straight into the centre of Pisa. We didn't think there was much to do in Pisa and found the leaning tower to be more of a tilting tower so instead of spending another day in Pisa, we opted to travel to Florence on the Sunday. It was 11 euro each and took just under an hour to get there. Florence is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit.

Breakfast at the hotel was underwhelming but adequate. It is clearly more a business hotel but a great price if you are looking for a cheap weekend break and it is likely to be cheaper than staying in Florence so may be an option if you are looking to visit there given the great transport links.

Well located. Friendly staff.
Good design. Breakfast is very decent.

With the bike you can easily ride to the center of Pisa along the river. The bus is only 2min walk away and only takes about 10min.

Compared to other hotels in the city center, I would definitely choose this one again next time.

We had connecting rooms which was great for 4 people - 2 bathrooms definitely helps in the mornings! Great breakfast with all we could eat. Nothing too much trouble, staff very good with us. Very pleasant start to our holiday considering we flew in late and needed to sleep and eat without any hassle!
Free parking very handy. If you were staying for any length of time it may be a little limited in facilities from what we could see, but for a night or two it was fab for us.

Very disappointing for a 4 stars hotel. Looks already like a 50 years old hotel. Cleaning is borderline, breakfast bad with terrible service. Took 25 minutes in total to get one fried egg !!!
If you cannot find anything else you can plan to stay there for ine night maximum and then you go on your way...

Ok. Let's go. This hotel is very new and modern. Air Condition everywhere, fresh. The room was amazing. A lot of different lights, nice view from the backyard. shower was good. The shampoo and others were good. The Air condition powerful (it was important in a 40o Celsius degree summer). The breakfast is nice, a lot of options, even about the timing to take it. You can do an 'early' breakfast in case of getting too late or leaving too early . Very good.
The only 2 'not so nice 'things about this hotel it's a good location, but not central location. It's better if you've a car. Or, you like to drive a bike. They rent bikes to you during the day, to go around. To me it was also important that the wi-fi wasn't that good at rooms. The first day the system wasn't working perfectly about the username/password liberation. But even after that the sign at the room is poor and I couldn't navigate. So, my solution was to go down to reception to can use it. Anyway, if you don't mind, it's surely an amazing hotel.

Room Tip: If you wanna wifi, get a very central located in 2 floor room. Closest to the central door, closest...

One of the highlights of staying at San Ranieri was the excellent and thoughtful service by Matteo, one of the hotel staff who assisted us after our check-in. We stayed in a suite on the highest floor with a separate living room. It had a modern decor. By day, the natural light coming through the floor to ceiling glass windows gave the suite a very spacious feel. At night, the room could do with more light. Although the lighting was designed to match the modern theme of the room, it was a bit of a case of aesthetics over functionality.

Overall, a pleasant and comfortable stay. The self-serve laundry was a plus. Would have given San Ranieri an "Excellent" rating if not for the fact that hot water was not readily available in the suite. Whenever we needed hot water, it had to be obtained from the hotel's restaurant.

WOW! This hotel is superb. It is very well located, fairly close to the hustle and bustle of central Pisa but it also gives you peace and quiet when you feel tired! In fact, where better place to relax than the beautiful back garden (equipped with beds for the perfect afternoon siesta!) The garden bar is beautiful, particularly as the sun sets and the night fairy-style lights come on. And when you are ready to step inside, make sure you treat yourself to dinner in the lovely conservatory style restaurant. I found the food was unusual which makes this place special: whilst the staff were generally helpful and professional, speaking excellent English, I did find that the chief waiter was aggressive when I left, asking me if I had signed the bill. Part from that, I had the most wonderful stay here: the rooms are very well furnished, cheap fast wifi and excellent though unusual but stylish lighting. What's more you are guaranteed an excellent sleep ....

Room Tip: Make sure you enjoy the beds in the garden as well as the one in your room!
