“A memorable experience!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2011

If you want the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside with the convenience of a hilltop town on your doorstep - San Giminagno is a 20 minute walk away. It will be difficult to beat Guardastelle.
You have luxurious and attractive accommodation either bed and breakfast or self catering (and you can combine them) on a wine farm run by a talented young couple Fausto and Susanna. The breakfast is made by your own attentive local "Nonna" Roberta. It is served on a terrace which overlooks the Sienese hills dominated by San Gim.
The attention (when you want it) is offered graceously. We left feeling that we had been cared for by friends. As seasoned travellers who use small boutique hotels, we have seldom enjoyed ourselves so much. This is a gem that truly offers an unforgettable experience Thank you Susanna and Fausto (Wendy & Peter)

My wife, daughter and partner spent 10 days at Guardestelle as part of a 3 week Italy tour and with out a doubt was the best part of our trip. Rome, venice and florence were all great, but Guardestelle was the highlight of our stay, and we all promised to return as it was the one place we could not do without on our next trip.

Photos do not do it justice and with our hire car it was the perfect place to explore other locations from. Being able to watch early mornings and evenings overlooking the countryside was a treat every day and Susanna and Fausto were the best unobtrusive but caring hosts.

Until the next time.

Room Tip: we hired a 2 bedroom apartment in the main building with kitchen and balcony , which enabled us to c...

You know how you research a place and when you get there, it's not quite all it claimed to be? Not Guardastelle! Guardastelle went far beyond our expectations. It was a dream come true. We stayed in the Orione apartment for the last week in September, between the grape and olive harvests. Everything about the apartment, the grounds, the views, the service and even the weather was perfect in every way. The views from every angle of the apartment, out every window, were masterpiece paintings. Breathtaking. The apartment itself was large, immaculate and exquisitely appointed with everything we needed to live in luxury as Italians for the week. Our own private patio was covered in rose vines producing blooms the size of your fist. Suzanna and Fausto were such gracious hosts, we had to remind ourselves that we weren't actually family. We loved the wine tasting, learning about the art of making wine in the finest region in the world. On two mornings we were greeted with hot air balloons drifting silently in the valley. The sense of intimacy and privacy felt like we had the place to ourselves, except at breakfast when we gathered with similarly happy guests and shared our travels with each other. We gazed upon beautiful San Gimignano basking in the morning sun just a kilometer away. Breakfast with bubbly Roberta (we miss her) serving perfect cappuccinos on the balcony was a wonderful way to start the day. Having visited nearly a dozen Italian towns and cities, San Gimignano was hands down our favorite, especially in the evening. You simply cannot pick a better, more centrally located base camp than Guardastelle. Guardastelle itself was a storybook memory. I guarantee the only disappointment you'll have is the inevitable departure. You will drive away dreaming of your return. Guardastelle was included in our Best of Tuscany tour out of Florence. Fausto was our guide for the tour of his vinyard and olive farm. We were blown away by the views and especially the one of San Gimignano. We are seriously considering renting the villa for our next vacation to Italy. Fausto is a wonderful host.

My wife and spent 2 weeks in Italy during October and it was amazing. Without a doubt, the best part of a great trip was the week we spent at Agriturismo Guardastelle. Fausto and Susanna were outstanding hosts and Roberta made breakfast something special to look forward to. The wine tasting was a special treat!

The apartment was fantastic with all the amenities you could possibly need and the scenery was breathtaking - like walking out into a painting or postcard every day!

Can't recommend Guardastelle highly enough!! Too bad "Excellent" was the highest score.

Dear "Fiberworm",
It seems Roberta's cappuccino is something more important than San Gimignano to visit Guardastelle!! ;-) Roberta will be extremely happy when I'll read all the compliments to her.
Thanks to take time to write a comment and to visit us.

My husband and I had waited 13 years since our last trip to Italy to return and spend our entire time in Tuscany. Our stay at Guardastelle was well worth the wait. The magnificent setting amid vineyards and olive trees, with commanding views of the breathtaking Tuscany countryside was matched by the superb service and friendliness of Fausto, Susanna and their incomparable assistant. "Roberta of the Cappuccino." Staying at Guardastelle is akin to spending a holiday with a gracious family, where you are welcomed each morning to breakfast served on white linen with lovely tableware. The view from the terrace is unforgettable, with towered San Gimignano in the distance. Walking to town was an easy half-hour. Restaurants there were among the best we encountered on our trip. We needed no car for our stay. Buses are frequent and inexpensive. Of the many places we stayed, the Guardastelle was by far the best. We highly recommend it to everyone looking for a most memorable stay among lovely, friendly hosts.

Room Tip: Our suite had once been the wine cellar, complete with curved ceiling. On the ground floor, it has i...
