This was our third fortnight's stay at Guardestelle, and, yet again, was perfection. It never fails to impress or delight. The location and gardens are perfect, and Fausto and Susanna great hosts. Their chianti and olive oil is exceptional, and a lot came back with us in the car! It is like a home from home, and I can honestly say we will be returning next May again.

We recently stayed at the Agritourisimo Guardestelle during the week of May 19th through the 26th, 2012. We decided to pick this location due to it's proximity to the Montalcino and Multipulciano wine regions. We were absolutely blown away by the beauty of the landscape and grounds. Our hosts Fausto and Susannah worked tirelessly to make our stay the most relaxing and rewarding. They provided great suggestions, alternative plans when weather wasn't co operating and greeted us with what we felt was a genuine warmth.
We stayed in a rental cottage that was spacious, clean, authentically appointed. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting to get away from a week of touring Rome or other Italian cities and wanted a place to kick back and relax or do day trips to Siena, Luca, Pisa, Volterra, Montereggioni, wine regions and return to a fantastic cocoon!!!!!!
GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY
you simply cannot beat the view or the hospitality of this Agritourisimo.
Ask about the Gelato shop in San Gimignano and my recommendation is to try a flavour called Rosemary's Baby!!!!! Awesome combination of Raspberries and rosemary!!!!! the most amazing Gelato we tried while we were in Italy for 3 weeks

We had the pleasure of staying in the Virgo apartment at Guardastelle in April 2012. The apartment is situated away from the main house, although be aware that none of the space is entirely private, as the little front garden and pergola can be seen by guests walking to the car park. The interior has the most beautiful fittings and furniture of anywhere that we have stayed in Italy. The views, over the Tuscan hills, are stunning. The shady pergola is incredibly beautiful, with climbing roses, perfectly maintained flowers and comfortable loungers. The kitchen is well-equipped with 4 gas burners, crockery, cutlery and glasses. We would recommend the wine-tasting with Fausto, as there is also delicious home-made food to accompany Fausto's wine and olive oil.

There are a few small suggestions that we could make: to include washing up liquid and a washing up sponge. Virgo is the only apartment that does not have a dishwasher, so this would have been a helpful gesture and we did not get through an entire bottle of washing up liquid in one week! A change of towels mid-week would also have been welcome. Guardastelle offers B&B rooms as well, so presumably they are used to changing laundry and washing up on daily basis? You can pay extra to have the towels changed and apartment cleaned during the week. A welcome pack is often offered at agriturismos and this would have been great after our flight was delayed from the UK: just a couple of bottles of water, some fruit, cheese, bread and olive oil would have meant that we did not need to go food shopping after having arrived at our destination. A welcome drink - even just a cold glass of water - on arrival would also have been great after our long journey. The road up to the car park has got very bumpy and could do with resurfacing - we were thrown around in the car a bit on our way up to the car park! Bear in mind that the little car park nearest the house gets very busy - we were almost blocked in by other guests a couple of times.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at Guardastelle. For us, it was the perfect location: on the main road for trips to Siena, but also a lovely 20 minute walk up a quiet country road to San Gimignano. Fausto is very helpful: he fixed our central heating and did not charge us for this, we were offered a free breakfast on our first day and we were loaned an ironing board and iron as well. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.

I would not hesitate to recommend Guardastelle to anyone wishing to stay near San Gimignano.

We have just arrived home after spending two weeks at Guardestelle and are missing it already. This is our third visit in as many years. The accommodation is of high quality and the ambience of the place and its locality is wonderful. The predominant sound is that of bird song in the mornings and evenings. Guardestelle is situated within easy access of San Gimignano, Siena and Florence. If you don't fancy driving to the cities it is possible to park for free at the rear of Certaldo Railway Station and take the train. Siena has a new escalator system that runs from its railway station to the top of the hill and Camolia Gate.
Susanna and Fausto, the owners, are very welcoming and provide a great breakfast. This year we joined the wine tasting tour and lunch which we really enjoyed. We will be back.

Room Tip: All the apartments we have stayed in have been excellent

My husband and I stayed at Guardastelle to celebrate a 'special' birthday and it was absolutely wonderful. The location, the views, the rooms, bedrooms, gardens and pool are all immaculate and very tastefully renovated and decorated. Fausto and Susanna are wonderful hosts and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We attended the wine tasting which was really interesting and the food and wine were delicious, and good value for money. We also took part in the cookery class which was great fun and very interesting - great food and more delicious wines! We will definitely return in the future only, for longer!

My wife and I have chosen Tuscany to end our trip through Italy celebrating our 10th Anniversary, and we could not have selected a better place than Guardastelle for it! Not only the location is amazing (the view of San Giminiano from the terrace is just fantastic!) but the entire place is decorated to the detail, showing on the decor the great sense of style and care the owners Fausto and Suzanna have. If that was not enough, the wine is really good, the staff extremely friendly and helpful (thank you Roberta, Barbara and Allison) and the food was amazing. We spent 3 nights there and left feeling it was not enough… We definitely, definitely recommend Agriturismo Guradastelle if you plan to spend some time in Tuscany!
PS. While there, ask Fausto to book dinner at the terrace of La Vechia Mura for an amazing view of the Tunscay landscape or at Da Nisio, for a very romantic night… While in San Giminiano, look for Alberto, on the main street on a shop called La Tour for the best leather craftsmanship in the region!

We stayed in Guardastelle for one night in May,2012. Guardastelle is just a few minute drive from San Gimignano( or 20 minutes walk). The view of San Gimignano is just outside of my window. The staff was friendly and offered us lot of information that we need. I am looking forward to coming back again with my family and stay for more than one night.
