This restaurant of a small, but wonderful "agriturismo" in the Tuscany region was a magnificent treat. We did not stay at the bed and breakfast of this agriturismo, but rather we were staying just up the dirt road/path at the Hotel Pescille. As our hotel did not serve dinner during the season that we stayed there (April), they recommended their neighbor down the road. The Zafferano is a five minute walk down the road, but it would be worth an hour hike to get there. The very small, intimate, and elegant restaurant offered us wonderful gourmet options to choose from and we were always delighted with our selections. We ate there two out of our four nights in San Gimignano, but would have easily been happy eating there all four nights! The daughter of the family-run business was our waitress each night, and she could not have been more delightful and service-oriented. We highly recommend eating here, and we may try to stay there overnight if we are ever fortunate enough to re-visit the area.
