We ate here on our last night in San Gimignano after having tried out seven other restaurants in this town. Of all of them, this came closest to fine dining. The service was very professional and great care was taken serving the wine and water. There was a small taster before the starter came and bread was provided with no cover charge. The wine list was comprehensive and the Chianti we ordered full bodied and mellow. The dishes were well presented and well cooked. Somewhat disappointing was the vegetarian main course which amounted to some grilled vegetables decorously arranged on the plate - not great value for money. On the other hand, this is a meat eating region, so perhaps this is not their strong point. I ordered the sirloin steak but received the filet of beef main course instead. Nevertheless, the meat was very high quality, so made up for the small slip. I would recommend removing this dish from the menu. Desserts were delicious as was the coffee. Possibly somewhat more expensive than some of the other restaurants, but the higher price is justified. Worth another visit.

The wine was good. The food service and ambiance were terrible. The first course was duck...we immediately sent it back then they brought it out again, still horrible. The broccoli was over cooked to the point it could have been baby food. The mesculine greens were not even dressed. And as for the duck it was fridge cold and lacked basic seasoning. Our server was a piece of work as well I won't even describe how nasty she was. The main course of Guinea hen pasta I had was palatable but lukewarm and again lacked basic seasoning. I have been a chef for many years and this is by far the WORST meal/dining experience ever.

It was the day of our departure and we stopped by for lunch at San Gimignano. After looking for many lunch places we spotted this place with a Michelin star rating! N found a nice table to sit as well. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 kids. As expected before we placed the order we got a basket of bread with a plate to our our balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The waitress while kept the olive oil on our table for some strange reason was very possessive about her vinegar, she gave it in intervals n only when we asked for it not checking on her own that it's over given that there r 4 adults on the table. We ordered grilled vegetables which was just awful, the worst selection of veggies n that too bland! We also ordered a pork dish and a beef dish which was average. We ordered a spring roll too again which was soaked in oil. The kids got pasta from the baby menu which was again badly made in too much of the
red sauce. Wine was the standard house wine. Lastly the dessert it was some ginger pie and it tasted yuckkkk, there were 1/2 inch 20 pieces of ginger in it which you could bite with your teeth if you wish to, that's certainly not how a ginger pie is made. We spent 7 days in Florence, Siena and chianti region and I can say for sure this was the worst meal ever! We had a pleasant experience in all the other places except this one!

After reading the other ratings, we had high hopes. We were first led all the way back into a corner of the restaurant, which felt a bit strange, but perhaps it was the only available unreserved table. *shrug*
We selected the Tipica tasting menu, and while the pasta was really excellent, many of the other dishes felt uninspired. We know that simple and traditional can still be really delicious, and we had been expecting a bit better, especially considering they had a mention in the Guide Michelin.

Tucked away down one of San Gimignano's side streets is this lovely little restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table for two in light fresh room, with arched ceilings. The majority of the other diners were Italian - which I always think is a good sign when you are visiting a very touristy area!
The menu is reassuringly short and everything we chose was excellent. The service was very friendly and we had some lovely crisp white local wine. A very pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend!
