We ate here on our last night in San Gimignano after having tried out seven other restaurants in this town. Of all of them, this came closest to fine dining. The service was very professional and great care was taken serving the wine and water. There was a small taster before the starter came and bread was provided with no cover charge. The wine list was comprehensive and the Chianti we ordered full bodied and mellow. The dishes were well presented and well cooked. Somewhat disappointing was the vegetarian main course which amounted to some grilled vegetables decorously arranged on the plate - not great value for money. On the other hand, this is a meat eating region, so perhaps this is not their strong point. I ordered the sirloin steak but received the filet of beef main course instead. Nevertheless, the meat was very high quality, so made up for the small slip. I would recommend removing this dish from the menu. Desserts were delicious as was the coffee. Possibly somewhat more expensive than some of the other restaurants, but the higher price is justified. Worth another visit.
