Nice food, pleasant service, a lovely setting - and a complimentary glass of limoncello at the end of our meal. We visited La Griglia with 2 friends for dinner at the end of a day exploring the town. Everyone ordered something different. Everyone was happy with their choice. Three types of pasta dish with different sauces: all very tasty. Three different grilled meat dishes: entrecôte, vitellino, and maiale, served with a mixed salad and fragility beans. Meat was tender, nicely cooked and full of flavour. The 'Monte Bianco' pudding was less successful. Just 'squirt cream' on top of marron glacé (chestnut purée). Not very imaginative and not worth the money. Coffee was strong and delicious. And the carafe of house red wine was excellent. Light and fruity, a perfect accompaniment to the meal. The salad was perhaps not as fresh as it could have been. And some American and Australian fellow diners were rather loud and inconsiderate. But this was not the restaurant's fault. Rather, the bad manners of tourists abroad! Staff were courteous and attentive. The complimentary limoncello afterwards was a lovely surprise. And the meal was not overpriced. San Gimignano is a tourist hotspot. You expect to pay for a decent meal. We were perfectly satisfied with our dining experience. And the views from the restaurant terrace are magical. Would not hesitate to go there again.
