“Wonderful suprise inside”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Truly amazing fresco cycles here. The church gives tourists audio guides to explain them, but they can easily be enjoyed as art work for those with a tiny bit of bible knowledge. Hell is truly scary and ever so slightly R-rated but subtle and up hire enough that I had to point it out to my teens, so don't be afraid to take young children. This is a true gem.

“Renaissance Wonder in tiny town”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

What a magnificent specimen of medieval and Renaissance art. The frescos are brightly coloured and in remarkable condition. the Chapel to St Fina and the Violets has all the trappings of the art of reliquaries. The wealth of the town is expressed in this Duomo as it has famous Florentine artists on the walls. Good value and audio guide included in the price.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

The Collegiata is a must. The murals are beatutiful. As in many other churches, paintings and books: I´m sorry, but hell is more fascinating than heaven.

“Beautiful frescos”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

This is a fantastic example of how art in churches was used to tell the stories of the bible to the masses who couldn't read. The walls either side of the nave are covered with beautiful frescos. There is an audio guide which will take you through each panel and every other piece of art in the building, but the voice becomes a bit monotonous. I found it distracting after a while.

I switched it off and preferred to find a quiet corner to sit and wonder at the talent that created such abundant beauty.

“Small but lovely”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Fascinating for its frescoes and the lovely story and chapel of St. Fina. For a cathedral it is very small but is well worth a visit for these two things - as well as giving you a rest from the crowds and heat outside.
