We stayed only 2 nights out of an 11 day trip to Italy, and this hotel was by far the nicest place we stayed. I could not fault it, and would be very happy to return. The hotel is pretty, cool and efficiently run, the location perfect, and the garden and pool area are a joy. Even in July, there was always space by the pool, and on the terrace for breakfast, there was always a clean, set table. This cannot be said of most other places we stayed.
We knew in advance that the room and badroom would be small, so we where prepared for that. For such a small room it was equiped very well. We stayed on the top floor, with a large balcony, which we enjoyed very much, and more... we loved the view.
Breakfast was good, swimmingpool, terrace, garden, location, hotel-staff. Top.

My husband, sister & I rented two rooms at this absolutely wonderful hotel. We can't say enough good things about it! The decor was beautiful, the staff was kind, helpful, and wonderful to us. The rooms were cute, clean, and very very comfortable. One thing to know, is that the smaller rooms really are small, as is usual in Europe, but if you get one with a patio overlooking the pool, it will MORE than make up for small room. The larger suite was very comfortable, and we slept like kings in our rooms. The breakfast was delicious and even better when you had it out on the main patio overlooking the pool & tuscan landscape. We spent 10 days there, and will go back again. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone to who wants to be pampered, and made to feel like royalty...everything about it was perfect.
My friend and I attended the Andrea Bocelli concert in Lajatica in July and decided to make the Santa Chiara our base for three nights. The owners, Monica and Thomas, have created a beautiful oasis of calm and tranquility where nothing is too much trouble; for example, we returned from the concert well after midnight, and had got a little chilly and although the bar was closed by then, the receptionist was very happy to bring us delicious hot chocolate and a plate of biscuits. Without exception, all the staff were gracious, helpful and incredibly obliging. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Our rooms on the ground floor were spacious, quiet and comfortable - my only criticism is that the shower cubicles were very small. I'm slim but even I struggled not to bash my knees and elbows in the shower, so I think a larger person would have difficulty. The garden is a delight, we whiled away many happy hours under a parasol, chatting and reading, and being served chilled water whenever we needed it. The breakfast buffet is superb and the lunch menu, although short, is varied, fresh and beautifully served. The hotel doesn't offer dinner but it is only a short and pleasant walk into SG and the restaurant recommended by the receptionist at the Santa Chiara was spot on; terrace, authentic Italian, delicious food, didn't break the bank. All in all a memorable stay and we would have no hesitation in recommending this delightful spot.
The Hotel is now one of our favorites depite not being able to get our chosen Superior room booked on internet a few months earlier, We were upgraded to a comfortable 2 roomed Suite- at a cost of 30Euros- a day extra. But the suite was great!!! only problem being....no Bath. Had booked a comfortable room as had been suffering from back pain and sciatica and needed a regular hot bath,
Rooms clean , Little lady at Breakfast is absolutely super, the ladies behind the desk were all so helpful....even finding our camera for us. The views from the hotel are great and the pool clean and comfortable.
We will be back!!!!
First time we'd been back here for over 10 years - was just as wonderful as we remembered it.
The hotel is just outside the walls of one of the loveliest hilltop medieval towns in Tuscany, and an easy walk into town for dinner (no dinners provided at the hotel, though they do a reaonable selection of light lunches).
We took a junior suite with a large balcony and wonderful views over the Tuscan countryside. Nice comfortable room with good facilities.
Breakfast on the hotel terrace is excellent, with all you could reasonably want being available.
Staff are very friendly and efficient.
Pool and surrounding garden are just right.
Good location for trips to Florence, Siena (not to be missed), Volterra and Chianti-shire country-side.
We shall return (and it won't take 10 years next time).
