Il Pescere is in a beautiful location, with gorgeous views over the Tuscan countryside to San Gimignano. The building itself is a classic Tuscan farmhouse style, but inside the rooms are simple and bare. We stayed in a Superior room with a view over to San Gimignano, which included two chairs on a small balcony, and was well worth the extra cost.
The Swimming pool was nice, and also had a hot tub. The gardens were nicely laid out with plenty of areas to sit and look out at the olive groves and vineyards.
Breakfast was one of the weak points of our stay. Food selection was minimal (bread, ham, yogurt and croissants), coffee was self-serve from a machine which made poor cappuccino and terrible americano coffee. Staff were basically non-existent during breakfast.
Otherwise, all the staff members were friendly, and happy to help when asked, but weren't forthcoming with information.
A 2 euro fee for swimming pool towels was annoying, as was a 5 euro fee for wifi access.
In San Gimignano, I would highly recommend Osteria San Agostino, and the "World Champion" gelateria in the main square.
Overall, I would recommend staying at Il Pescere for the views and convenient location, but expect fairly simple accommodations.More
