Great location, near parking and right in the center of the village.
Staff was very helpful and friendly!
Breakfast was good and they made very good cappuccinos.
Nice inner court yard where breakfast was served

-
Bed was hard and AC was a bit noisy so it was hard to get a good nights sleep. AC was also leaking onto the floor and the cleaner didnt wipe it up.
We got a tiny room (nr 23). I got a glimpse of another room across the hall and it was twice the size. We could barely put our bags beside the bed.

Room Tip: Room 23 is tiny, ask for a room facing the street.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at L'Antico Pozzo

It was a pleasure to read you found the hotel lovely and how our friendly staff appeared eager to please and it is always unfortunate to read when a air conditioning unit has a negative influence on the quality of one of our guests experience.

I apologize that we were not prompt to solve the issue; unfortunately during the week-end we were not able to find the replacement for the little plastic attachment for condensation drain.

I also regret had not the opportunity to assist you to improve your bed comfort: our anatomic-orthopedic mattresses guarantee excellent ergonomic support and are appreciated by many of our Guest, however our staff is available 24/24 to provide extra latex-pads which make the mattress much softer according to Guest' sleeping habits.

As you can imagine, we are available and much pleased to assist our Guests anytime to help solving any discomfort which also includes offering a different room according to own preference.

I thank you again for sharing your comments and look forward to welcome you again at L'Antico Pozzo

Perfect position in the heart of the old town. Loved waking early in such an elegant medieval building hearing the town come to life. Simple rooms.... some with frescos....some with four posters. Gorgeous inner court yard for breakfast. We knew access would not be easy - highly recommend visiting the hotel web site where you can watch a video of how to drive there, this worked perfectly for us. (switch off sat nav or it will lead you astray). We received a warm welcome and help with anything we asked for, even phoning ahead to our next hotel to make a dinner reservation for us. We will most certainly return.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front have more light but more street noise.....I rise early and found this part of the...

Had the pleasure of staying 3 nights in May, at this family owned hotel. It was recommended in Karen Browns book,(now out of publication), and it was spot on. Having breakfast (included in the price) in the enclosed garden puts you in the right frame of mind for the whole day. In the afternoon or early evening, jump across the street and pick up some cheese and wine and enjoy an early evening repast in the downstairs bar area. You will probably be all by yourself. The owners treat you as if you are their own. Oh make sure you see the video on how to get to the hotel. As it is inside the walled city, it takes some maneuvering. But it is well worth it to be able to drop your luggage and then park your car down below outside the city.

Getting to the hotel was quite an experience. We had not been to San Gimignano before and had no idea that there was no parking at the hotel. It also didn't help that it was Republica Day -- a national holiday -- and the city was overrun with people! We used our GPS and it directed us to the hotel, up and down winding alleys. We pulled onto what looked like a pedestrian street with hundreds of people (there were no signs to indicate we could not drive on the street). It was like a bad movie -- making people get out of the way while we on a street that was not made for traffic. Thankfully, a local man stopped us and told us that were were driving the WRONG WAY down a one-way street that was only for local residents. He helped us turn around and we finally found the hotel (but with much stress and threats of divorce if my husband hadn't stopped). If you are driving, you must BACK UP to the hotel (although, again, there are no signs to indicate this), drop off your bags, and park at the bottom of the hill (you will pay to park in a public lot). Once we dropped off our bags and were able to relax a bit, we discovered that this is a lovely hotel in an absolutely idyllic city. The hotel is definitely three stars (my husband and I stayed at 4-star hotels in Rome, Venice and Florence) so we had to adjust our expectations. A friend had recommended this hotel and we're glad we trusted her. It was everything we needed. We started out in room 33, but noticed that it wasn't staying cool. We switched to room 26, which worked much better. It faced the street, but there was no noise. The bed was a bit hard for me, so we had them put a mattress pad on top and it was much more comfortable. The rooms are nothing special, but they're nice and clean and in a great location of the city. The breakfast was nice -- just what we needed to start the day. The courtyard in the back of the hotel is beautiful -- complete with laundry hanging out the windows from the residents next door. The name of the hotel means "antique well" and you MUST visit the well around the corner from the lobby. My husband and I took a bottle of wine down there one night. Fun. The hotel staff was also wonderul. Emanuele was especially helpful with our dinner recommendations and reservations and driving directions. I've attached some pictures: outside of hotel, view from our room, the steps leading to the well, and the gorgeous skyline. It was so beautiful that it almost looked painted. If you're looking for a nice, clean, historic hotel, book here.

Room Tip: We found the third floor a bit warm, but the second floor was fine.

Thank you for your kind compliments and feedback on your most recent stay with us although we are sorry for the difficulties experienced to get to the hotel. We recommend all our guests to follow our instructions received by email and displayed on our website which, unfortunately, are not shown on the websites of the big online agencies.
We thank you particularly to suggest a visit to the basement of the hotel, it is certainly an experience not to be missed!
We are also pleased to announce that we have recently enhanced the air conditioning system for an excellent performance in all the rooms.
We look forward to having you again in the near future at L'Antico Pozzo!
Warmest regards

We stayed here with our 12 year old son in the last week in May 2014. We had requested a room overlooking the courtyard and were given room 33. A beautiful room, with not only a lovely view of the courtyard, but stunning views of the Tuscan countryside. The only negative thing to say about the room was the lack of draw space for your clothes, but that was easily improvised by using a suitcase on the luggage rack! This was well worth it for the peace and the view. The beds are very comfortable and the baked room and bathroom was cleaned daily with plenty of clean towels every day. The breakfast was one of good quality and choice. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they really could not do enough for you and it makes your stay! Ask for dinner suggestions as they are very knowledgeable, with good recommendations. I have not stopped telling all my friends that if they go to Tuscany, this hotel is a must!

This hotel was by far the highlight of our trip to Tuscany. San Gimignano was our first stop and we felt completely spoilt in this charming rustic Italian accomodation. The room was absolutely gorgeous (triple room) and overlooked the main Piazza. We felt like we had the place to ourselves as there are few rooms with little else apart from a small reception area. This did not matter one bit as we just wanted somewhere relaxing to stay in the heart of town to have as a base. We only stayed 3 nights and I think we could have happily stayed a week there. Even though the Piazza is buzzing all day to early evening the shutters are sound proofed so you hear absolutely nothing. Once morning we open the windows to realise a whole market had been set up and we hadn't heard a thing!
I can't wait to go back here, it was a dream.

Room Tip: We stayed in the tripple room as the price was not that different to the double and well worth the v...
