We stayed at this Hotel for three nights and were very comfortable. The two sisters that manage the Hotel were most helpful at all times. Rooms are comfortable and acceptable. Bathroom is small but so are most in Italy.
The breakfast Is not cooked one but cold meats, cheese etc plus you can have cereals and yoghurt. Price is very reasonable at 100 Euro per night plus Tax.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Some of the reviews I had seen made me a little worried but I had no need to worry at all.
The views from the hotel are incredible and the gardens/pool/outside spaces are lovely. We went to the local shop most evenings and bought fresh tomatoes, bread and meats and had picnics in the hotel garden which was so relaxing.
Our hotel room was a little dated and noise between rooms travelled but not to the point that it affected my stay. The rooms were kept very clean and were a great size.
The breakfast area outside was again really nice, we had a large fresh croissant every morning and a buffet selection of breads/cheeses/meats/fruits.
The hotel owners were very helpful and friendly.
Location was great for us, there is a shop and bus stop close by and it is around a 20 min walk to the town.

I should start by saying that my wife and I did not stay or eat at this hotel. Nor would we. We are at a villa nearby traveling with 10 friends and we're planning to walk here for dinner during our stay. This afternoon my wife (7 months pregnant) and I were walking back from town and she needed to use a washroom. She politely asked at reception if it would be possible to use a washroom and was abruptly told "no". This is the first time in Italy that any establishment has refused her and to date every other establishment has been very gracious at accommodating her. The rest of our group was disgusted and while I realize this was the action of one staff, it cost them at least one very large dinner and wine bill as our group will not go there now. They may want to be more considerate the next time a very pregnant woman makes a reasonable request when in need.

Dear Madame,
surely there is a mistake!
The hotel has not a restaurant and not even a public bar. Our bar is reserved to the hotel guests.
We don't have a public toilet.
The only toilets are inside guests rooms and inside the staff room and they can not be used from outsider people.
We understand your disconfort but despite your pregnancy we can not do the impossible!!!
Kind regards

We had an excellent stay in this hotel at the end of june. The room is large, and equipped with everything needed. Large bathroom, good beds, and excellent view over the landscape of Tuscany. It gives an endless view over the hills of Tuscany. Nice pool with the same view (and view at the towers of San Gimignano). Breakfast is good with fresh food and drinks. San Gimignano is 15/20 minutes walk from the hotel, uphill. In the night to walk back it's downhill, so easier. It's a nice and safe walk. Enough parking places, although it's near the road, you don't have to worry about traffic noise. It's very quiet and silence inside the room. A big reccomend for a stay in Tuscany.

We drove from Pisa and found the San Michele in the main road into San Gimignano. Once you get to know the two sisters who run the hotel you find them to be helpful but reserved (with good english). The rooms are a good size with good aircon and bathrooms, the morning continental breakfast was fine but the best feature is the large infinity pool with views out to the rolling hills covered with vines and olive trees. There are "Pic-Nic" tables where we sat a couple of nights drinking local wine from the vineyard we visited and eating cold dinner from the Deli 10mins up the road.

The sisters helped us a lot on the phone finding us suitable Winery tours and had a long and animated (hand waving) phone call with a tour operator in town who was not very helpful.

We walked up the hill to the old walled town a few times and in the evening ate at a great resturant suggested by one of the sisters and walked home, but San G is a busy place with lots of tourists eating Pizza so we only went there a couple of times.

This was a great location for us to take morning drives to hill towns in the area, Volterra, Certaldo and the Palagetto winery where we had a great tour, tasting and a long chat with the lovely Lorna.
In the hot late afternoons we would enjoy the Pool, sunloungers and scenery of the hotel.

A good value hotel for what you get and a great place to recharge after the busy big citys of our tour.

Hotel San Michele was an oasis for us. We had just come from Pisa, having had our back packs stolen from our car, so as you could imagine we were a little freaked out. We were greeted by one of the beautiful, calm and helpful owners, who efficiently explained the workings of the hotel and directed us to our room. The view was amazing, simply superb. The room was comfortable as was the bed. We were provided with shampoo & soap and clean towels each day. Yes we like others, had to pay 3 euros for a pool towel but in the scheme of things that was no big deal. Breakfast was served in a delightful area surrounded by greenery making for a peaceful start to the day. The freshly baked croissants & the espresso coffee (decaf available much to my delight) were the highlight, however there was also a range of cereals, breads, small goods, juice & fruit.
The owners were more than helpful throughout our stay giving us information about the local area - places to eat, sights to see, wineries to visit. They liaised via phone with the police regarding our stolen goods and were sympathetic to our plight, our needs and our concerns. On our last day we had to leave quite early in the morning. They had no problem providing us with breakfast and even gave us a large bottle of water for our journey.
Evening meals were not available at the Hotel however on one night we visited a local business and bought a bottle of wine and the makings of an antipasto platter which we ate while sitting in the garden area by the pool - magic!
The pool area was beautiful - surrounded by lavender plants. There were plenty of sun lounges and umbrellas and the pool water was crystal clear. Such a great view looking out across the pool to the hills and valleys beyond.
Internet was slow but with views like that who needs to be in front of an electronic device!
It was a short trip into San Gimignano township which was steeped in history and filled with places to eat and shops to wander through. We stumbled upon a food & wine tasting and flag throwing display one of the nights we went - great to experience the local foods / wines and culture.
It would be a difficult area to stay in without a car even though the township was so close. There are so many wonderful things to see in the nearby areas that you would miss out on without one.
Our 3 night stay at Hotel San Michele turned out to be a great place to refresh and take stock in the middle of our European adventure. A great family run business.
