“perfectly located on the Tuscan hills”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

beautiful working winery with infinity pool overlooking the Tuscan hills. had a wonderful 4 nights here in a cozy room near the swimming pool. San Gimignano is about 20 minute drive & other cities very close as well. need a car to get to stay here & also bare in mind that there's dirt road. didn't try the restaurant as we were trying different places out in town. would love to stay here if ever in Tuscany again.

The positives

The bedroom is very good, large air conditioned and very clean. The bathroom equally is large and clean although the shower was, at least in our room, standing in the bath and the shower head didn't quite hold on the wall fixture.

The staff were friendly and accommodating.

The swimming pool is in a great location set against the vineyards.....

The negatives....

Reception is not constantly manned. At the price you would be shocked if a hotel didn't have someone in situ, but we arrived at 1pm for a 3pm check in and waited 30mins for someone to arrive to open reception. We weren't necessarily expecting to check in early, but a place to leave our bags would have been nice as we don't like to leave our luggage in the car.

The white Tuscan road....... Having spend a week traveling around Tuscany, staying in agritourismos and visiting vineyards, the road into santo pietro is the worst we travelled on. My partner is currently pregnant and even at 10km/hour in some places she was in pain, she's 6 months pregnant). I'm all for preserving nature, but if you expect significant traffic volume, you need a reasonable road, and this is unacceptable.

Santo pietro is at least 8 km outside San Gimignano. You need a car to go anywhere, even to reception or dinner (same building).

Breakfast is included in the price, but it's not good, limited choice and I would skip if it wasn't included in the price.

On the whole the negatives outweigh the positives. It wouldn't take a lot to put some of this right, but they are building more rooms currently which suggests demand outstrips supply and the obvious things that would improve the experience and that would justify the price are not being looked at.

Can you imagine a 3 star hotel without a manned reception???????? Let alone one that charges 4 and 5 star prices.......

We stayed here for a week with our small child and some friends. We ate every available dinner offered at the main house and found it to be a very good offer and excellent food. We also had a cooking course one afternoon that was very much fun and taught us new things about classic basics from the Italian kitchen. Spectacular views and nice pool. All together a great holiday spot!

Great place, set in fantastic countryside. Stayed in a spacious room in a separate building up a hill, near the swimming pool (which was one of those infinity pools). Breakfast was nice.
Make sure you don't lock yourself out like we did..embarrassing.

We visited Fattorie Santo Pietro in September this year. Our one-week holiday was absolutely brilliant. We and our friends (3 couple together) lived in apartment “LINARI” with traditional and styles furniture. The farm is located in a quiet place, on a hill with beautiful, breathtaking view (typical of Tuscany). The staff is vey nice, professional and helpful.
In their restaurant were prepared (3 times a week) wonderful Tuscan dinner and tasty daily breakfast. This food is very abundant (in my opinion of course), and therefore a bit expensive. It wasn’t possible to order less and pay cheaper.
Fattorie Santo Pietro is a good accommodation base for exploring the surrounding towns. The nearest town is San Giminiano – “the medieval Manhattan” -unique city which I will never forget!
In the farm offer there are also many well organized trips. We benefited from the day trip through the vineyards (Chianti and Brunello).
Fattorie Santo Pietro is a producer of his own wine and olive oil. We bought same bottles in the last day of our stay. Now, I know that it was too little. I miss that!

I hope I’ll return to Fattorie Santo Pietro!

We visited San Gimignano this summer and lived with another couple in an apartment at Santo Pietro. We had a really nice view from the porch and only 20 meters to the pool. The farm is far out in the countryside and it was really quiet there, even though there where plenty of space for the kids to play at the grass or on the playground. Eventhough being on the countryside in only takes 10 minutes to drive to San Gimignano for restaurants, shops and sightseeing.

There were always enough sun beds available so no need to rush out in the morning to capture one. We ate at their restaurant (where open 3 times a week) once and loved the food. They sell their own produced wine which we really enjoyed. We even attented a cooking class for only 15€ where we learned how to make pasta, pizza and a tart and got to keep alle the food.

I would definitely come back.
