The villa was clean, rustic and as it appeared in the photo's.
When we were at the property, the villa next to it was being renovated with work beginning at 9am. This would not be an issue all of the time, just unfortunate timing for us.
Actually locating the property proved to be quite difficult as it's not in google maps and the check-in correspondence, did not provide clear directions on how to get there. There were numerous phones calls trying to obtain directions and at times the phone was not answered at all.
English communication proved to be difficult both with check-in and during the stay.
The actual villa itself was clean and comfortable, but could have done with some airing out before our stay. The kitchen was great however the amenities were very basic - no kettle and no toaster. There was also I lack of basics such as salt, pepper, kitchen towel and extra bin liners. Cutlery, crockery and glassware were there but not in great numbers. 1 and half toilet rolls were provided for 3 people for 6 days. Having to purchase these staples was an extra expense.
The grounds were very well maintained and the pool was lovely, clean and refreshing - the perfect way to cool off after a warm day of sightseeing.
The villa provided the perfect location to slow down, unwind and relax. The area was very quite and a lovely reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. Along with the quietness of the location, the views were spectacular, not just of San Gimignano but of the surrounding country side.
Arriving home one night, we were lucky enough to see fireflies lighting the small road to the villa - in Australia we don't have fireflies, so it was a magical moment to see.
Overall, it was a great stay and would definitely consider staying again.
