This is the museum of the Civetta ( owl) contrada. It was raining and we were out looking for this museum and found it hidden in a back street. At first we were not sure if we could visit but after putting a donation in the box a lovely man showed us round. We were shown videos of the last time the Contrada won the Palio horse race and it was wonderful to see the pride that the people have for their district. We also saw the banners that are won and the colours worn by the horses and jockeys.
St Anthony is the patron saint of the Contrada and we were taken into the chapel where they bless the horse before the race.
It was a fascinating visit and if you are at all interested in the Palio I would recommend it.
