I visited Osteria La Piana whilst in Siena on holiday, with my partner, his parents and my mum. We loved this restaurant, the pasta was gorgeous, Bruschetta fresh and steak amazing. The deserts did not disappoint either, all washed down with a glass of the house white (only around €10 a litre).
The atmosphere was welcoming and it appeared to be a favourite haunt of the locals, which we regard as a very good sign.
Small, intimate restaurant, with great food at a decent price, what more can you ask?!

A nice surpice were you would not expect!! Just inside the old wall in Siena, in Porta Camollia, you will find this really small trattoria/osteria were you can taste nice typical truscan food like the famous Fiorentina or the tagliata or some lovely pasta. Dont expect to find a big menu but if you are after basic but good tuscan food this is the place were to stop. Price wise really fair.

Very traditional and small "Osteria" in the center of Siena. No last-fashion options will tempt you on the menu: very traditional, very typical... very good!
Enjoy the "salumi-mix": crude ham and the traditional "salami-like" (well, I would say "salami-better", but actually it depends on you !) finocchiona and other local alternatives.
Price is quite good for the area; service is fast and very friendly.
TIP: the restaurant recently acquired the side door hairdresser (or stuff like this) shop and transform it into an additional room. Now you can count on a bit more tables and you can definitely choose where to eat directly from the road: the two rooms have independent access! It's funny, especially because the original use of this second room is still very recognizable...

The restaurant is supersmall, 30 seating places tops: make sure to book in advance. And stay prepared to wait for some time more. It's that good, customers won't leave after the meal...
at least the mgmt will get you a free glass of prosecco wine to drink away the wait.
The menu is focused on the Tuscan dishes, classics of the local cuisine: sometimes less is more when cooked to perfection and with heart. And it's love and passion that get served at your table:
5 different sauces are served with pici, appetizers that vary from a huge coldcuts selection or 4 different types of bruschette. Do yourself a favour and dig in in the Trippa Alla Senese or the brased meats.
The fries are crispy and tender, not too salty, not too oily...
we did not have dessert but ANYTHING looked simple yet well-execute and presented.
And we got away by spending nothing compared to quality and service offered!
I totally and whole-heartedly reccomend this place.

This restaurant pretty much lived up to the expectations of being rated #11 in Siena. It was well placed in Siena, although not what I would call in the centre of the town, and I can see parking for some people being an issue.

If you go to this restaurant you have to reserve a table - the relatively small room was full and people were turned away at the door on a Friday night. I liked the atmosphere, although it was a bit loud towards the end of the night.

The food was the highlight - the ravioli with meat and truffle oil were full of flavour and surprisingly prepared and served in tin foil from the oven. The wild boar casserole was melt-in-the-mouth, and everyone else's food, including steak and rabbit was equally good. Desert was perhaps a bit too sweet for my liking, as the creme caramel, rather than being in the original caramel, was served covered in caramel syrup. Everything else was great however, and would recommend this restaurant for a celebratory dinner.
