Bad food. Terrible service. Expensive. We went to this restaurant for dinner and we were very disapointed, because the service was terrible and the food tasted like hospital food. We went home without eating the plates they served us. We don't recommend.

My wife, two teenage daughters and I were in Siena on a group tour. We had time for lunch. Followed a friend's advice and walked past the English language menus with pictures of the food. Saw the kitchen from the street and knew the ravioli were house made. Each of us opted for the second course. I had mushroom risotto, everyone else had a different pasta. This was a very enjoyable meal. The service was very good. The wines by the glass were good. Four plates, bread, two glasses of wine, with service charge, €70. We liked the lack of other American tourists and the number of locals. We enjoyed our food (we passed our forks around the table). It was a bit of a splurge for us but well worth it.

One of the fantastic concierges at our hotel, the excellent Borgo San Felice, recommended this restaurant. We were so pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has an open kitchen on the first level and a dining room that could exist only in Italy with large wood and glass cabinets holding wine glasses, wine and books. The waitstaff is very friendly and some speak English very well. I started with a puntarella salad with whole white anchovies and a creamy garlic aioli followed by a fantastic roasted squab with bitter greens and then monte bianco which looked amazing and tasted even better. My husband had a delicious eggplant parmigiana followed by one of the best pastas we've ever had, buccatini with sausage and lemon which looks very plain but tastes amazing. For dessert, the waiter recommended the gianduia dessert which is a delicious combination I'd gianduia sauce, bread, custard, gelato, salt and mint. No description can do this dessert justice; it must be experienced in person! We wish we had time to go back for another meal but that will have to wait for our next trip. Btw, the wine is great too.

We had lunch recently in this restaurant, as it is conveniently located. To be fair to the establishment, it is having significant building work on the exterior with scaffolding etc, nevertheless it was difficult to get attention from the staff in the tiny reception area, where to our amazement, they had squeezed a dining table in. We were offered a table on the first floor in an unexceptional dining room, as the historic (former pharmacy) groundfloor dining room was full. In any the latter appeared to us to be over full of tables with diners unacceptably close to one another. We found the food modest in proportion and unexceptional, as well as overpriced, even allowing for the close location to Il Campo. The waitresses were pleasant, but overstretched, so getting their attention was difficult. In hindsight, one would be better off eating further from the centre or alternatively in one of the transparently touristic pizzerias on the main square, which at least have the virtue of a wonderful view.

We went to dinner, we arrived almost at closing time but staff were very friendly and welcomed us. I had a lasagna that was perfect, simply the best I had in Italy. My husband had porcini ravioli that was delicious. Wine (chianti classico) was great as well.

Desserts were just OK, they were not at the same level of the food. maybe because it was not so fresh. By the time we asked for dessert, kitchen was closed and we were informed that even at that time we could have dessert because they wouldn't be made at the kitchen, so I understand they were already done.

Lovely and cosy place, they are opened for about thirty years. We loved our meal and on the next day (our last day in Siena) we went back to have lunch there. We had lasagna again and a delicious spaguetti. We didn't have dessert, instead we had a cup of gellato on the piazza, clever choice.
