“A Villa with a View”
Reviewed 7 September 2013

Our stay here was wonderful! We were made to feel like we were at home. The views were amazing! The wine was great! I enjoyed being able to walk around at my leisure. The air was crisp. as summer had not quite made it's way there to stay, but the room was warm and comfortable. I wished that we had stayed another night, and explored more of the surrounding countryside. I have told my friends, and will plan to stay again if when I return to Italy.

My boyfriend and I had an exellent stay at Villa Cambi, and are already planning to come back another time. The staff were so kind and helpful, and the rooms were nice and comfortable. The location was great, only a couple of minutes drive from the city center, and the view from the hotel overlooking Siena and the vineyards was breathtaking! The pool was a bit cold, but we didn't mind on a hot summers day. Breakfast was ok, and the wine was really nice. You have to have a car to stay here, since the only meal available is breakfast, but Siena is filled with great restaurants so It's easy to find a nice place to eat. I highly recommend Villa Cambi to anyone going to Tuscany.

Well maintained historic villa with lovely grounds and a wonderful, clean swimming pool. We stayed in the "Rose" Room--very spacious, tastefully decorated, with A/C that worked wonderfully (most welcome in the heat of August). Bed was very comfortable with extra pillows etc. available. Breakfast a very reasonable 5 euros and a large simple selection to choose from.

We also were able to get in on one of their special dinners in the garden overlooking the vineyard. The food was traditional and very tasty, service professional yet friendly, wine went well with the food--and what a treat to watch the sun set on Siena in the distance and then be surrounded by stars. Magical!!

A big Thank You to Giuseppe, who made a special trip back to the Villa to give us and our friends a spur of the moment tour of the winery the next morning, which included a scrumptious cheese and meats platter. He was very patient and knowledgeable, answering all our questions fully.

A special note regarding comments made regarding being left alone/no one being there. This is an Azienda, not an hotel, so does not have 24hour personnel in a lobby. There is a phone system to contact the manager/owner, which we did use, and we had a response on-line literally within seconds. It was obvious that personnel are nearby and we felt very secure and pampered during our stay. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Just and FYI: No elevator and rooms in the main villa are all on the second floor, so handicap need...

We arrived at 6pm, they said we can not get a room for the 1st night, because bathroom was damaged. We could not see it, we were told it would be "dangerous". Why could not they fix it during the day? They said the room is ready on day 2 at 11:30ish, but not for sure.Later we found out they overbooked the hotel and that's the real reason we were moved. They put us into an "exactly same villa" -no castle, no vineyard, no olive grove, no view from room etc. There was no manager on duty who we could have talked to, just over the phone (I had to pay for internat. call!). First the manager said they pay for 1st night, but before I could answer him, he hung up the phone. In the morning of day2 we were informed that VC cancelled our room because I was too agressive on the phone. Well, drive 950km!!! for the perfect Tuscan castello+vineyard experience, don't get the room you booked 2 months ago!, talk to an incapable manager... How would you feel??? In the end we did not get any compensation, they totally destroyed our vacation. There are 100s of other villas nearby, choose another one!

We stayed here for a few days last week and wished we had booked longer, a beautiful location, so quiet with stunning views of Siena. We stayed in the villa itself which has 3 lovely bedrooms. The breakfast is extremely good value, with plenty of choice, lovely! Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming.

One tip, if you go to the local Osteria ( the only one is walking distance) make sure you have a decent phrase book or understanding of Italian..... It was a very friendly place, but we really struggled to make ourselves understood.....raw strips of beef was not good choice.

Overall a fantastic stay, but remember to take a kettle....

Room Tip: All the rooms were lovely, but do take a kettle as no facility for making drinks, there is a good su...

My husbnd and I have been planning a trip to Tuscany for a long time and I was so happy to find this gem. Located on Castel di Pugna property with over 44 hectares of vinyards, Villa Cambi is simple and perfect. The Chianti wine is amazing! Overlooking Siena and within driving distances of Montelpulciano, Assisi, Florence and more. We are planning to go back again next year.
