“Worth for pilgrims, not so for tourists”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

I must admit it wasn't St. Catherine which brought me to Siena so I couldn't appreciate well enough the church and her relics would have been appreciate much more by somebody else. Despite that, it's worth learning of her story, especially her courage for engaging with politics in the church - quite inspiring, isn't it?!
Apart from her story, there's nothing special about the church.
You're not allowed to take photos inside the church, and as far as I remember, it's advisable to keep silence when inside.

“Extremely interesting Basilica”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

The Basilica Caterinaria di S. Domenico in Siena is a majestic building, well worth visiting. Entry is free and one can enjoy finding out about the life of St Caterina, patroness of the town. The church is grand and has wonderfully coloured windows above the altar. Relics of the Saint are on view including a thumb which may be a little disturbing for some. The Basilica is only a short walk from the Duomo and we recommend taking a little time to visit this great church and experience some of the history that lies within it. It has a good gift shop with an extensive array of Saint Caterina memorabilia.

“Basilica di San Domenico worth a visit”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

This basilica was a few steps from our hotel so we gave it a visit. The price is free, and while not as dramatic, large, or art filled as the Duomo, we enjoyed the quick visit maybe 1/2 hour.

“Skip it if you have a short time”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

If you have a short time in Siena, go to the cathedral that is much much more enjoyable than this place. This cathedrall is quite big but it´s not so beautiful inside.

“St Catherine is Siena”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

An interesting church, admission is free. I would be hard pressed to explain how I went to Siena and did not see St Catherine. The gift shop is good. St Catherine medals for every price point. The mummified St Catherine may be a little spooky for children. Go, it's convenient, free, and part of Siena's history. Light a candle and say a prayer for a loved one or, if you feel the need, yourself.
