“Great Hotel--Sergio at the front desk is the best ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013

We stayed at the Hotel Duomo for two nights. This Hotel is just two minutes from the Duomo and within walking distance to everything possible and Sergio at the front desk is the best front office person we have ever encountered in our travels. He mapped out everything for us and patiently listened/answered all of our questions. Since we did not have our next travel leg planned, he took time to look up information on the internet which helped us with our decision making. In addition since our room was not quite ready (we arrived early) he stored our luggage and sent us out to explore. When we returned mid afternoon for our siesta he had already delivered our luggage to our room.

In addition I had emailed him before we arrived to help make reservations for a restaurant for Saturday night that is hard to get. He also emailed directions to the hotel from the train station. All of his actions both before and during our stay were service excellence!!!!!!!!!! I have never had someone so friendly, engaging, and professional like him at the front desk.

Our room was clean, comfortable, large sized by European standards and had a matriomonial bed which is sometimes hard to find in European hotels. The bathroom was also clean and had all of the minimum requirements and a European jacuzzi as my husband likes to call the bidet (he has a warmped sense of humor). as noted by some other reviewers walls are a little thin, but since this is located in an old hisotrical building that is par and fine with us as we always travel with ear plugs. We did not hear any street noise.

The breakfast was European style and more than adequate with many breads, pastries, cereals, fruit, cheese, meats, etc. things to choose from. In additon on our last morning, my husband wanted eggs, (European breakfasts usually do not include eggs unless you are at a 5 star hotel). Sergio asked the breakfast staff to cook up some eggs for us which were scrambled and done to perfection. Again he went the extra mile for us!

He called a taxi for us. As we were getting into the taxi, he came out, said good bye and gave my husband a bag of candy for the rest of our trip (my husband has a sweet tooth). Again, another random act of kindness!

Pricing for this hotel was fair based on European standards, location and time of year.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a similar great experience as ours.

I was a little nervous when the bedroom looked smaller than the over sized modern bathroom in my quickly booked single room when I arranged to meet friends in Siena with 2 days notice. Fantastic was my rating overall for the visit as the hotel is in a perfect location, as was the service and the staff service and attitude. The reception staff could not have been any more helpful with unloading and loading my luggage and organising my car licence plates to be exempt from the city taxes with the police (as it is in a limited city zone). Additionally as we were leaving early the next morning they suggested that they could have a special breakfast prepared at a time that suited. Wow a great gem in a magnificient city and one I will book again!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms at the top of the hotel 50, 51, 52 or 53 as they have a brilliant view of the Sien...

The location is perfect for visiting the city. We are traveling with 2 kids. We had the room #56 a large family room very clean. The hotel has a free Wifi. When we asked where we could park the car, the staff gave us all the options : free Parkade with a small walk, cheap pay Parkade close-by or their 20€ Parkade service. We stayed just one night and we were very happy by this hotel.

We only stayed one night at Hotel Duomo but found the service friendly and the view from our room was beautiful overlooking the Duomo. One downside to this hotel is the difficulty of getting luggage to the room due to the tiny elevator and then flight of stairs that followed. But this is to be expected in a historical place. The other downside was getting there by car. We followed the printed directions from the Hotel to the letter but still could not find it through the narrow winding streets. We finally gave up, parked the car and walked there, getting directions from our parked location from the desk clerk. Again, to be expected trying to navigate in a medieval town. If we had it to do over again, we would've looked into parking outside of town and having a taxi deliver you to the door. Other than these two things, Siena is beautiful and we really enjoyed our experience.

We had room #54 at the very top of this small boutique hotel (20 rooms I think) and it was perfect for our party of 3 adults of 4 nights. The hotel is perfectly located in the midst of all there is to see in this small and very charming town. Be aware that driving in Siena is not recommended, but I think the hotel does have very limited parking if you are touring with a car.

The room itself is more of a suite, with a small, cool entrance/single bed, leading to the neat, clean bathroom and down a couple of steps to the main double bedroom that has glass sliding partitions to create another single bed nook. A space for everyone! (Be aware if you have mobility issues, that this room requires walking up a flight of about 20 steps. They are not long or steep, most people would manage them easily.)

The main double bedroom has curtained windows on two sides and shows the most incredible views over Siena and the surrounding countryside, but it does get rather hot in the afternoons with all that glass. We were there in April, in Summer I think it would be very hot indeed, but there is an airconditioner in both rooms. The wall mounted TV was large and worked well, but don't watch TV, you're in Tuscany!!

There is a shared terrace next to the room, which was a nice place to relax, but the views were nothing compared to those from the room. This terrace is also sometimes used as a smoking area by other guests, so if that bothers you, keep the bathroom window closed as that opens out onto the terrace.

The staff were mainly friendly and efficient, the owner is kindness itself. Breakfasts were plentiful, with barrista made coffee to order.

If you hire a car to see the surrounding countryside, and I advise that you do if you have time as it is wonderful, Hertz was by far the best operator we found, just a 10 minute walk down the hill, near to the station. We hired a Fiat 500 and had the most wonderful day exploring Tuscany.

A highlight of Siena is a climb to the top of the tower in the main square, followed by a sunset drink sat in the sqaure itself. All ages sit and gossip and play here, it's lovely. Enjoy!

Spent a very pleasant 3 nights in the Hotel Duomo, in Siena. This was a return trip for me and it did not disappoint. Very centrally located, great walks in every direction around this amazing little city. As Italian cities go it would be in front if Florence & Venice although love those too. The reason for this is there is a real Italian edge, the people, the food, the wine and the views.

The hotel staff are all very attentive and friendly happy to help with any requests. The rooms are standard, clean and with some lovely views. The housekeeping team work hard to keep the standards consistent. The breakfast works as a great start for the days action.

For a weekend break go to Siena, it rests the soul and you feel inspired by the quaint, relaxing environment.

Would return again and again! Enjoy
