Hotel Alma Domus is a former convent, very centrally located in Siena. It is difficult to find and to get to, as its entrance is on a steep flight of outdoor stairs, about 50 feet and two flight down from the nearest street. There are no bell captains and no handicapped accessible anything, which probably told me all I needed to know.
It is much more like a hostel than a hotel, although our no frills room did have its own bathroom. One had to leave the key at the front desk when one went out. The rules stated that the sheets would be changed every other day and the towels every third.
The view from the room was of the Duomo, and was breathtaking. But It didn't really make up for the very threadbare mattress that had us tossing and turning most of the night.
We only needed to spend one night, so we survived. but I might have had a better time in Siena if we had stayed elsewhere.More
