“Good location, nice staff, budget friendly”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

We booked this hotel last minute and were happy with our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a good location for people who are driving. There is also a free car park. The rooms were clean and tidy but we had problems with our bed- it must have been old and was quite uncomfortable. The hotel is quite dated and the carpet looked old and unclean however, free tea, coffee, juice and cake is available all day and the breakfast is satisfactory.

One of the few positive aspects of this property is that it has a free car park which is also one of its negatives as its proximity to roads makes the noise almost unbearable, not to mention the view to either the gas station or the back street of the hotel. The place is visited mostly by young couples but if your fidanzato or boyfriend, fiancee or partner offers to take you there please ask him to do better. It is indeed a basic, clean but bland place. It offers an all day free buffet of breakfast leftovers, free wifi and professional staff but other than that I would struggle to find nice things to say about this Best Western property. Even the pillows deserve a mention but only because they are almost flat. Check the wardrobe and get a second pillow from there!

Room Tip: If you must stay here bring earplugs or ask for a room not facing the highway

Great hotel. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Perfect for those who stay in Siena with a car. (The hotel is only 5 min drive from a center parking lot - if you don't travel with car do not stay in this hotel because the public transportation is not so convenient)

We had an awful experience at this hotel. I cannot believe they are rated at 4 stars...what a joke! The hotel was filthy. Toenail clippings and hair was left from prior guests. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in. You could feel every spring and the pillows were literally 1" of foam rubber. The sheets and pillow cases had a funny smell. The toilet was squeezed in so tight behind the radiator that I cut my knee on the sharp corner (Room 460 I believe). Air conditioning was non-existent. The only thing the hotel had going for them was the reception staff, both people we dealt with were nice and understanding. We moved to a second room the only improvement was a little more room in toilet area. The grounds are not kept up as shown in the pictures. Weeds were overgrown and it was obvious no one had taken care of. Its a shame because the landscaping had potential. It does not appear that anyone has cared for the appearance and comfort of this hotel in quite some time; it was extremely rundown. Breakfast was included in our rate but we were not brave enough to eat there and left first thing in a.m. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here. We only booked one night which was still too long. This is my second bad experience with the BEST WESTERN chain in Italy. We had a similiar experience in Rome. I have vowed never to stay at any hotel affiliated with BEST WESTERN again!

Room Tip: Do not stay here. If you have to avoid room 460.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found it to be good - ok price, good sized clean rooms, good aircon, quiet (we were not on the highway side of the building) and good breakfast buffet.

We had a hard time finding hotels with parking in Siena, hence booking here (heaps of free parking on site) but you do pay for it with the out of the way location. It is about 5 min drive to a parking lot just by the city walls but parking is 1.70€ per hour. The walk is about 20mins though is mostly on a slight incline that gets steeper over the last 8-10 minutes, there are also no footpaths so I would not recommend the walk if dusk or night. Ultimately if you could get a hotel at a similar or slightly higher price with parking closer to the city I'd definitely recommend taking that over this place

We had a wonderful experience with the Best Western Hotel River (3 star) in Florence so we decided to try Hotel Palazzo as it was rated as a 4 star. Upon arriving we were very disapointed. The grounds were unkept, the hotel looked like one of those bland motel 6's. The rooms were tired. The breakfast was horrible. It is not walking distance to anything as it is right on the highway. We booked 2 nights there and moved the 2nd night into a wonderful b&b right inside Siena's historic village. I think they need to change their star rating from a 4 to a 2.

This is a nice hotel, but outside the city walls of Siena. The only way into the city is to walk 2 blocks and catch a bus or take a cab. If you are renting a car and exploring Tuscany this may be an ideal spot because it is close to the train station and highway. The staff was nice to provide toliet items we forgot or ran out of at the front desk. However, as far as directions, we didn't get much help or friendliness. The view from our room looked onto the countryside and the hotel courtyard and was very pleasing. The hotel has happy hour each day and it was very nice and we met other travelers and discussed our itineraries. The restaurant in the hotel had good food, but not for those on a budget. Breakfast was average, but the dining room is very nicely furnished. The hotel is in a residential area and very quiet on a dead-end street. There were only two small cafes within that two-block area and they did not offer any variety for dinner. This is a newer, clean hotel, although they said they were booked, I never saw more than a couple of quests at breakfast or dinner. Since I've been to Siena twice, I would recommend staying inside the walls since Siena requires alot of walking in any day. For the money, there are much better bargains inside the walls of the city and much more choices for restaurants. Siena had some of best food in Italy and I would recommend not limiting yourself to hotel restaurants.

Room Tip: Choose room faces the courtyard and not the front hotel entrance.
