Our hungry group of 10 stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant while searching for a spot to celebrate one family member's 18th birthday. It was late-- most restaurants were closing for the night-- and we feared we would not find a place to eat that evening. We popped into L'Oro and meekly asked if they would serve such a large group so late. They asked if we could wait 15 minutes. We were thrilled; we would have waited an hour for the promise of food-- longer had we known how delicious the meal would be.
To complicate matters, a few of our group have varied and limiting dietary needs. No problem for the kitchen at L'Oro-- they asked what we could eat and what we liked and created the perfect dinner for each of us with food intolerances. Every dish was as delicious as the staff was friendly, kind, attentive and accommodating. When we assumed our newfound love of pici could be no greater, the chefs at L'Oro took the pasta to new heights.
Everything we had off of the menu was nothing short of phenomenal. The specials were other-wordly. We took pleasure in learning about each ingredient we were enjoying as they were paired with each other, learning about the regions they were from and how they were best prepared.
This was possibly the best meal we had while in Tuscany for over two weeks. There is not a doubt in any of our minds that we will go back when given the opportunity. If you are in the area, do not miss out. As the name implies, L'Oro is truly a golden find in Siena.
