Reviewed 8 October 2013 via mobile

Loved this venue. Location, facility, staff were all excellent.
In particular I commend the staff at the front desk and the concierge, Nabil, for helping to make this a very pleasant experience.
Accommodations were clean and well maintained. Fabulous views of the town.
Would definitely recommend and return if travels take me to italy.

This hotel is in the centre of Siena, the ideal place from which to explore. A 10 minute walk to any major tourist site or restaurant. The room was great, with a view over the rooftops of medieval Siena and the Duomo (cathedral) in the distance. Upon arrival we were given a fruit plate as a refreshing post-travel welcoming gift. (Great idea.) The bed was great for me although not quite as soft as my wife likes them. There was separate shower and bath within the bathroom. Breakfast buffet was superb. Service generally was top quality. The concierge desk were very efficient in giving advice on dining and tourism. The building is an old palazzo converted a long time ago into a hotel. The ballroom {?) is a wonderful 18th century trompe d'oeil room used now for special functions but worth seeing. The only possible negative I can think of is that the hotel has no adjacent parking, but since we were traveling by train and taxi this did not affect us. Parking in Siena generally seems challenging. We were sad to leave after 5 wonderful days.

Dear Guest,
thank you for your kind words and we are very pleased to know that you
have appreciated the hotel and the services offered. For those who do choose to come with a private car the hotel does offer a valet parking service upon fee or can assist by indicating parking areas.
We do hope to welcome you again in Siena for your next visit.
With kind regards,

This hotel is very centrally located, only a few minutes walk to the main square. The front desk and concierge staff are excellent. The housekeeping staff are very good. The rooms are spacious but need updating. If you have a choice, don't opt for breakfast at the hotel. It is very ordinary/boring and the serving staff are polite but not friendly.

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel, and found the service to be excellent - friendly and accommodating in every way from restaurant recommendations and reservations, help with tour guides and in planning our self guided touring. Siena is a great base for a trip to Tuscany, it's a wonderful blend of the old and new world in a city that is easy to get around. The location of this hotel is perfect, situated on the main pedestrian street, via del citi. The hotel accommodations are luxurious, we stayed in a junior suite and had a lovely room with a small terrace

Firstly the location of this hotel is fantastic, right in the heart of the town.
If you don't want city noise, don't stay in a city hotel.

The room 239 had a fabulous view out of the large window and was well serviced, sheets/towels etc.
The rest of our experience in the room was pretty poor.
The bathroom was ancient and all of the taps, shower etc seemed ready to fall to bits and didnt work properly. ( a real challenge having an ice cold/ steaming hot shower all in one go in a slippery plastic bath.
The sofa had a stain on one side ( nice) everything else was just ancient and badly in need of a complete refurb.
The mini bar was never refreshed.
Parking was 45€ per day we thought this was outrageous
Wifi was 10€ per day we thought this was also outrageous in this day and age. It was a very poor system that constantly dropped out needed re logging on.
Breakfast was awful : sloppy lukewarm scrambled eggs and rubbery bits of bacon, poor selection of fruit/juices.
Staff in this area were obviously trying but unless you could speak their language fluently you were in trouble if you wanted anything different to that which was on show. Asked to pay extra!!!!!!! For an omelette when the eggs provided were indelible!!!!!
Reception staff were great and helpful
All in all my third review of this trip and to summarise so far our experience of Five star Italian hotels..........tired, dated and desperately hanging on to what may have been acceptable 30 years ago.......you're staff/guests deserve better!!!!!

During our two week car trip in Italy we stayed one night ( only ) in the beautiful Grand Hotel Continental in Siena.

It was on first sight hard to book this hotels as rates were extremely high and after contacting a friend of mine who is General Manager of a Firenze hotel, we made a booking for a Royal Double room in Siena.

Prior to our stay we reserved a parking space and detailed instructions were send via email as it is hard to drive within the city center of Siena. Price is not to be missed, 45 euro per day but this is Valet and as we are in Siena this price is acceptable.

Upon arrival in Siena we followed the written route description for the hotel which was not too hard to find but it is quite difficult as you are actually not allowed to drive in the city center without permit and some roads near the hotel are full of pedestrians. We parked our car temporarily opposite of the hotel and offloaded our luggage and gave our keys to the reception for parking.

Check in was smooth and we were given a strange key, usb kind, to our room. Our room was upgraded to a breathtaking room overlooking the roofs of Siena.

Our room had an amazingly high ceiling with beautiful paintings on it, our ceiling was then also very high which gave it a large impression. The room itself was a bit hot but we could open the only window in our room.

There was an extra bed provided in the room along with some extra toiletries and towels. In the meantime I called the reception for a internet code which was not free of charge but at a very accepted rate, the extremely friendly lade called me back soon after my request with the code.

The bathroom was roomy and had a large bath with built in rain shower. All in marble, that’s how they roll in Siena.

Next morning we had breakfast in the atrium, service and quality were excellent as expected. Although the quantity and offer of breakfast was not up to expectations, it was a bit limited for this five star hotel. Maybe because not too many guests had breakfast included.

Check out went smooth but the check out agent was v ery unfriendly and it took about 15 minutes till they brought our car back.

Overall an excellent stay is this beautiful hotel and I would certainly come back if I could get it at the right rate !

Room Tip: Some rooms have beautiful ceilings and views over Siena
