We were in Sienna two nights in March which was quite cold. This hotel was within walking distance of everything you could possibly want to see. The terrace has a lovely view of the hills and wine can be served to you any time of the day. The front office staff was sparse in March, but helpful. Our room 31 was quite comfortable with a beautiful view. They gave us great suggestions for restaurants and do not miss staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view overlooking the hills.

Look no further....Palazzo Ravizza is the place to stay! Fantastic views of the Tuscan hillsides, a fantastic and quiet garden, old world charm, with PARKING and CB included. Rooms have 14 foot high ceilings, antique furniture, but with modern baths, air-conditioned and the hotel is located in walking distance to all Siena highlights. My husband and I stayed in a garden-view room, which we highly recommend, it is worth the extra few dollars. Most importantly, the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. We absolutely loved this hotel and if we have the opportunity to return to Tuscany, we will run, not walk, to this beautiful small hotel.

On a recent two-week tour through France and Italy, we stayed at six different hotels – all of which were selected based on locations and price, input from Trip Advisor (taking comments with a grain of salt), suggestions from friends, and viewing individual hotel websites. This hotel was the third place we stayed, for our two nights in Siena. Here are our impressions, which echo many of the other reviews:

• Excellent location! Right within the walls and close to everything.
• The staff were all so friendly and spoke excellent English. In particular, Elena was SO helpful and has such a bubbly personality – she was a delight.
• The hotel has their own booklet about Siena that was very helpful to have while we were sightseeing. It’s available for sale in the library, which has other books of interest for sale as well.
• The views from our room and from the garden were just breath-taking. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the hotel itself has a lovely décor. This place was definitely pleasing to the eye, all around – and very peaceful! I loved the rose garden in particular. Lots of birds.
• There’s an elevator to take you to your floor, if you’d prefer not to walk (or if you sprained your ankle like I did on this trip!).
• The shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure. The toilet in our room had one of the tanks above the unit, so if it hadn’t completely re-filled itself, it might not flush all the way.
• The door to the bathroom didn’t close all the way.
• Breakfast, which is included, is excellent. Choice of many beverages, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, fresh fruit, yogurt and cereals, pastries (chocolate croissants!)…
• The room was very clean and neat – plenty of room for our bags. You can open the windows and lean out to see the Tuscan countryside.
• Excellent wifi
• It is essential that you have reservations for dinner, especially on the weekend. We arrived fairly late on a Saturday and had to go to about 5 different places before we could find a table.
• We spent some time one late afternoon relaxing in the garden and were able to order wine and a cheese plate to enjoy. Very tasty.
• The parking is one of the PRIME reasons to stay here. You can easily park your car at the hotel’s lot. However, we had a little trouble figuring out what to do when we first arrived. The hotel’s directions were not quite as detailed as we needed! You actually go in through the wall into Siena proper (at Porta San Marco). You follow the road around (You CAN go past the signs warning you that you have to have a permit to drive in that area), and we parked right in front of the hotel. After checking in, we then moved our car down to the hotel’s lot, using their code to access it.
• So much to do and see in Siena – I wish we’d had more time. We had an excellent dinner at Numero Unico, and a delicious lunch at Il Bandierino on Il Campo.

My mother and I had three nights at the Palzzo Ravizza. The hotel has a beautiful old charm, very tastefully decorated and an elegant but very comfortable feeling. Our Junior Suite room overlooked the garden and I would highly recommend a room overlooking the garden rather than the street side. Gorgeous views of Tuscany! The staff were attentive, polite and very helpful. We loved the bookshop which was attached and found a fantastic and very eclectic collection of books with a delightful owner! The hotel is perfectly situated for seeing Siena as everything is within an easy walk. We will certainly return - thank you very much!

Room Tip: It's definitely worth asking for a room with a view over the garden.

Friendly, informative and helpful staff who recommended and made restaurant reservations for us.
Lovely garden with beautiful views where if the weather is fine you have your breakfast - which, incidentally, was excellent with lots of choice - and very good coffee.
No restaurant - which is a shame as some of the public rooms would make for very stylish dining!

From the staff, to the gardens, to the incredible view from the rooms, this hotel is fantastic. Breakfast was some of the best we had come across in Italy. Location is a little on the outskirts but not really. On site parking is a huge bonus. Only regret was spending only a single night in Siena.

Room Tip: Anything with a view of the valley.

We loved it, including the gardens and views. Very nice room and staff, as well as typically good Italian breakfast. If you're driving, park to unload in the front, then find free parking down the hill and walk up through the gardens. (Ask for very specific directions to the parking gate!)
We were glad we visited Siena and stayed here. Too many wine and bidet photos on TripAdvisor, though! Those are part, but not most, of the reason to stay here. For another experience, Google "Gargonza" for a much older experience for another day or two. I stayed there long ago but did not visit Siena then.

Room Tip: Probably any; ask for a good view.
