“Lovely day spent touring southern Tuscany with Gianni”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2013 via mobile

We had a wonderful day. Gianni picked us up from our hotel in Sienna (right on time) and suggested a route we might like - we hadn't prearranged anything preferring to decide on things on the go. From start to finish Gianni pointed out to us little things that we would never have noticed had we driven ourselves around. Things like the famous winding Cyprus road, the stories behind the frescos on the walls in the Archabbey of Monte Oliveto, the differences in distance to Sienna on the two opposite road signs in San Quirco, the story behinds the sloping church floor in Pienza and how the township came about, the stories behind the warm springs filtration system in Bagno Vigoni and the various township/village challenges held each year - just a few examples. Gianni's passion for Tuscany made the day a wonderful one pulling over to answer questions or enable photographs and was at our service the whole day. Oh - and lunch was a delight of local fare we would never have experienced if we had not been taken there with Gianni. We highly recommend spending a day - or even two - with Gianni or one of his guides - it will be well worth it and well remembered.

“Our best day in Italy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

Just returned from a wonderful trip in Italy - nearly 3 weeks, and the most memorable day, hands down for both my husband and I was the day we spent in Chianti region with Gianni! This man is amazing at what he does - goes above and beyond - entertaining, personable and full of wonderful stories. He showed us the best of the best - hidden treasures, gems and vibrant small authentic communities. Thanks so much for your dedication, Gianni. We wish you the best and thank you for this wonderful experience!

“If I could give Gianni 50 stars, I would”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

Spent 5 days in Siena from 9/28-10/3; two of the best were with Gianni and Tours Around Tuscany.

From the initial emails back and forth in January, to the pickup at our hotel door as scheduled, to the interesting tidbits about Siena, the Italian language, local food and wine history, and the Italian people, Gianni was like a friend we had known all our lives.

Our group of four booked Tours Around Tuscany for two days: we did the Blue Tour one day and the Red Tour on the other. My husband is a photographer, so we wanted to have the flexibility to stop when he saw "the shot", spend more time in a specific place if he wanted, skip on from a place if it wasn't interesting. The private tour fit the bill perfectly. In addition, Gianni has had experience with photographers in the past, so he is familiar with stops that have historically been of particular interest to them.

He also added San Gimignano to the itinerary at our request. It was raining on our first day, so he asked which direction we preferred to go (southern route vs. northern route). It was all about us and what we wanted to do/see.

The package includes lunch and we ate at two fabulous places. Trust Gianni to order for the table; you will not be disappointed.

The tours are not cheap (180euros per person per day), but totally worth every penny. Especially if you only have a few days to see Tuscany. Yes, you could rent a car and drive around yourself. But many of these tiny villages have limited parking and the alleyway type streets can be intimidating. In addition, you can use a credit card to make your deposits but Gianni prefers cash for the balance so make sure you have enough euros to do that (or pay in full by credit card when you make the reservations; I was reluctant to do that up front but it would not have a been a problem).

My advice to you would be to use Gianni and Tours Around Tuscany for as much as you can afford. He will make your trip enjoyable and stress-free.

“Tours Around Tuscany - the highlight of our vacation!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

Thank you Trip Advisor for recommending Tours Around Tuscany! The highlight of our vacation was spending two full days with Gianni and seeing Tuscany through his eyes! We chose his Red & Blue itineraries taking us through Tuscany's most scenic countryside. We enjoyed visiting several off the beaten path quaint Tuscan walled villages, churches, Abbey, castles, cyprus roads, vineyards with wine tasting, as well as the most delicious family style meal we had in Italy!!! After learning our interests, Gianni structured our days to deliver a personalized tour that exceeded our expectations! My cousin is a professional photographer and Gianni made it a priority to take us to the most spectacular scenic areas to capture Tuscany's renowned beauty. His fun personality and extensive knowledge of the area made for fun filled days. We very much enjoyed our two days with Gianni and felt it was the highlight of our vacation!

“Our favorite day in Italy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2013

During a 14 day trip to Italy my husband and I hired Tours Around Tuscany as a private guide for the day. Gionni arrived at our hotel, promptly at 9:00am, escorted us to his beautiful and comfortable mini-van and proceeded to show us Chianti in a way that exceeded every one of our expectations. Gionni asked us about our interests and developed the most wonderful day, stop by stop. He handled all of the tickets and covers; delivered us to the entry of villages that you couldn't park a car in; arranged and paid for a delicious lunch and wine in an out of the way village that was both rustic and comfortable and handled our gluten free diet with ease. Gionni was polite, knowledgeable, a great driver and best of all, so fun to be with. I would recommend this to anyone.
