Piccolo Hotel Etruria
Ranked #25 of 40 Hotels in Siena
Reviewed 10 November 2013

If you want to relax and discover Siena stay at Piccolo Hotel Etruria situated close to Piazza del Campo. The hotel staff are welcoming and very helpful. Rooms are comfortable equipped with tv and ensuite bathroom.

Cafes and restaurants are abundant serving typical Siena food. For those who love shopping Siena can be a feast.

For those who love nature, one can take a ride on Treno Natura to destinations through the countryside and to remote villages to view crafts and taste the local food.

I highly recommend a visit to Siena and a stay at Piccolo Hotel Etruria.

The location of this hotel really, close the the Square with clocktower and lots of restaurants for breakfast or just a coffee to watch the scenery in front. The hotel doesn´t serve brakfast for free, so it was much cheaper and better to have breakfast on the Square.

- Location: Excellent. A 5 minute walk from the historic centre of Siena. The hotel provides an excellent base for visiting San Gimignano, Montepulciano and the Chianti area.
- Atmosphere: Pleasant. A guest house atmosphere.
- Decoration: Comfortably furnished.
- Room: It was clean with comfortable beds.
- Service: The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
- Parking: A parking garage is near. Ask for one piece of advice at the front desk.

- Recommendation 1: There are some coffee and pastry shops within walking distance which are of a fair standard.
- Recommendation 2: Ask for a room away from the street.

- Would I stay there again? : Yes.

Not grand accommodations to be sure, but great for the price-- comfortably furnished. Internet sketchy in the rooms but there is a 2nd floor common room that is expansive and well accommodated with good light that was great to connect in. The location is swell, very close to the Campo. The best part of the stay were Leopoldo and his sister Lucretia who were at the front desk most of the time and had awesome recommendations for restaurants and a winery tour. All were exactly as they'd portrayed. We were having some challenges with the next leg of our trip and they both went out of their way to help us get squared away, interfacing with other accommodations, since our Italian is minimal. We felt at home and well cared for, and very comfortable. I would totally recommend Piccolo and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Noise from the street unavoidable as are stairs. I liked the separate building across the street.

This hotel, found by chance on booking.com, was a real find. We were there two nights in September 2013. The location so close to the Campo is brilliant, although some rooms overlook the main street which is noisy in the morning. Perhaps best of all, and not often found in Italian city hotels, was the friendly and helpful welcome; other hoteliers, please note. This first impression coloured our entire stay golden. The room was OK, but the furniture quirky - one large double bed and two singles (??), and no chairs or armchairs to sit on. The breakfast (extra) was excellent by Italian standards. The entire place was spotlessly clean. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street, although these may be smaller we were told.

The owner was very helpful. He assisted us to make another reservation when we were having some difficulty with a hotel in Rome. Did not even charge us for the long distance call. Location excellent because the hotel is very close to the main piazza. Make sure you keep the address to find your way back. Agree with noise comments if you are a light sleeper. Maybe you can ask for a room away from the street. We found it easy to walk to bus area. Good day trip to Chianti from there. I would stay there again. Try the restaurant around the corner on the side street beside the hotel. You sit facing down the steep hill. We were able to call out our window to make a reservation.

The location is the main advantage of this hotel. Nice staff, new and clean place. Good rooms. But there is no breakfast included in the price and the speed of the internet is terrible. It's impossible to access Facebook and your email depending the time... Sometimes, you arrive at the hotel and there is no one to see you but after a couple of days you're at home there. If you go there in June or July, keep in mind that the street's noise is impossible to tolerate. But this is the price of its excellent location.

Room Tip: Choose for a back room in the last floor. Quieter than others...
