We stayed here 3 nights in June 2013. The hotel itself is very nice and modern. I thought the room was large by European standards and loved the clean white duvet, flat screen tv and beautiful bathroom with a great shower (no bath tub). Hotel staff was very helpful when asked to assist with planning a day trip to San Gimingnao. Note, the bus to San G was just a block or so away from the hotel which was very convenient. It was also within walking distance from the train station, which we used for our return trip to Florence.
I thought the breakfast was just average, nothing special about it.
Location wise, this hotel sits a few blocks outside of the wall of the old town. It's a good 10-15 minute trek to the main sites, definitely within walking distance but it can seem a bit far on the return hike after a day of sightseeing.
You should be sure to try the gelato stand just up the street from the hotel.
