“Great Location but no lift”
Reviewed 8 June 2009

I have just returned from a trip to Italy and stayed in Siena at this hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect, not too far from the train station (a short taxi journey - €10) and the main square 'Il Campo' (5 mins walk). We had what seemed to be a larger than normal room which was quiet nice and spacious. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. My only issue with the hotel was that there was no lift, which was slightly annoying as we did have a lot of big bags, the girlfriend insisted on bringing the kitchen sink!

If this hotel had a lift it would have been perfect, but if you don't mind walking up several flights of stairs with bags then I would recommend this hotel.

Had a nice one night stay at the hotel. It is perfectly located in the center of Siena, not far from all the major sights. The single room was very small though and the shower not so practical. But all was very clean. Good breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff.

Just returned from spending one night in Siena after 3 nights in Florence and before attending a conference in Milan (4 nights). This hotel was the most economical but was in a great location and just what we needed to explore Siena. The hotel is extremely basic, offers a simple but adequate breakfast and is centrally located. It was difficult to ascertain which Siena hotels were in the city walls and which were outside, so for anyone wondering: THIS HOTEL IS INSIDE THE CITY WALLS. Everything important is easy to get to by foot. There is a free parking lot about 1km from the hotel that you can park in after unloading your stuff.

This hotel is perfect when traveling with friends and or if you are on a budget. When traveling in Tuscany with my wife (+/- kids), I would probably opt for something a bit more luxurious. Otherwise it is a good economical option.

GOOD: Location, Price, Adequate (included) breakfast
BAD: Thin walls, Low-budget feel, Low water pressure (in shower)

Room 15 was bare and minimal, but fine for a 2-day stay. We had a large window that opened to the building next door, but if you looked to the right, there was a beautiful view of the rooftops of Sienna and the Tuscan hills in the distance. I would not recommend this room is that it is near two utility closets so we were awaken by very loud chambermaids every morning around 6am.
Bathroom was also a little ragged but everything worked.
This hotel is basic but worth the money we spent and the location is GREAT -- short walk to bus plaza, post office, supermarket, Medici Fort, San Lorenzo church, El Campo (town square), and Duomo. Also very near a farmer's co-op supermarket (Consorzio Agrario Siena) that was the BEST food we bought during our 10-day trip to Italy -- their porchetta sandwich is better and cheaper than any you will buy elsewhere in the city. We had no idea what Sienna was laid out like before arriving and we totally lucked out. This location was PERFECT.

CONS
No internet point.
Breakfast was minimal and served in a small, cramped room. Coffee was deplorable -- skip it and go to Caffe Torrefazione Fiorella (near El Campo) instead.
Try to avoid room 15 which was noisy in the mornings due to the two utility closets right outside the room.

After spending hours reading reviews i went with this albergo. It is very central and gets booked up early. The room we had was fairly large, basic (no hairdryer or tea making facilities etc) but had a really good shower and is much better than other places i've stayed in italian cities! If you can try to get a room with a view out over the valley at the back - I caught a glimpse and the view looked amazing (i think it would be room 11 on the first floor). Breakfast was served in a nice downstairs room with some standard breakfast items for italy (3 cereals, plain yoghurt, dryish bread, orange squash and tea and coffee). I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a budget-ish, central place to stay. Staff were very friendly too.

I stayed at this place for 4 nights in mid-April. My room was room 5 on the first floor. Single room rate - 50 euros incl breakfast.
The room was small and characterless. Actually, funny enough the bathroom was bigger in size than the living area which is quite rare for Italian hotels. the main flaw of the room was its proximity to the service elevator: every morning I was woken up by loud voices of cleaning or other service personnel who did not seem to be in the least concerned about the hotel quests' sleep. The same thing happened again and again every morning so at the end I had to resort to using my ear-plugs (a seemingly indispensable implement for travels in Italy :) I did not want to bother myself with moving to another room and having to take all my things which were already strewn around the . So I stayed in the same room despite its smallness and noise in the morning.
Breakfast was ok by Italian standard. The breakfast area was quite small so many guests have to wait for others to finish eating before they can sit down. They offer usual breakfast fare (cereals, biscuits, croissants with jam and honey, nutella). Interestingly, they use little plastic containers as cereal bowls and plastic glasses for juice concoctions that they serve. There is a coffee-machine but as you can guess the coffee it makes tastes almost substandard compared to excellent cappuccinos and espressos you can get in the city.
On the positive note, the staff at the reception was very nice and quite helpful. All spoke English in various degrees of proficiency. The place seemed to be particularly favored by US tourists of various age groups.
In retrospect, perhaps my stay would have been more enjoyable if I had been put up in another room, but of this I can only guess.

We loved how spacious and bright the room was that we stayed in! The windows opened to a pleasant view and it was not too loud at all. I did have a problem with the drain in the shower...a bit of a flood occurred. But I think it was just me because my two girlfriends didn't have any issues:)
The people at the desk were very helpful when asking for directions and lugging our too large suitcases upstairs! Very good stay and I would definitely rebook.
