I believe this hotel is nice, but not as spectacular as others have written. Possibly it is because we were in a hotel room (which i found a little dreary) and not in the apartments. Many of the reviews seem to be about the apartments. I expected there would be a walk into town, but it is not 20 minutes as others have suggested. We ended up driving in every day. The best part of our stay was the wonderful breakfasts and the outdoor tables during the nice weather.

This is a very nice hotel indeed-- very well maintained, very clean & very well managed. Myself & my girlfriend had a most enjoyable time here. I think breakfasting outside on the terrace was the highlight- and the breakfast buffy really was A1. Oh & 10/10 for cleanliness too-- most important that!

This was a great find: quiet, beautiful grounds and walking distance to Siena - if you don't mind hills. We had an apartment and bought groceries at the Co-Op (great wine selection, by the way).
The staff at the front desk were great: very helpful and wiling to provide advice or assistance as needed. The room was spotlessly clean.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone touring Tuscany.

The street approach to the hotel was very commercial and put us on edge. That intial impression was soon erased by the staff and country atmosphere of this villa like setting surrounded by the bustle of Siena. Our apartment was roomy with a kitchen, bedroom and huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower. The grounds are beautiful and the location is well buffered from the noise and bustle of the city. It is only a 5 minute cab ride to Il Campo or the train station. On our next trip to Siena we will not even consider another hotel.

Excellent! I booked an apartment for 2 people here and it was perfect.
It is a 2 story apartment, kitchen/sitting room downstairs with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs.
The apartments and hotel rooms are within the hotel’s own complex with beautiful surrounding gardens. There is also a swimming pool.
It is located at the base of a steep but short hill. At the bottom of the hill is a large supermarket which is handy for picking up food and drink to bring back to the apartment. There is also a convenient Landry room on the complex.
The only thing you might want to be aware of is that it is a 20 minute walk into the centre of Sienna. This did not bother us but just to make you aware as it may bother some people.
I cannot recommend this place enough it is perfect if you want the choice of walking into Sienna to see the sights and sample the local restaurants but also might fancy a few days relaxing away from it all.

Its very comfortable, roomy, quiet and the free clothes washing facilities were a great 'plus'.

It's not in town, but once you know that its has much to recommend it.

My fiance and I stayed at the Borgo Grondaie for three nights at the end of our two week vacation through France & Italy - it was absolutely our favourite place the whole trip! We used the hotel as a base for exploring Siena and taking a day trip to Florence.

The walk into town is about 25 mins - we enjoy walking, so opted to do that but a cab ride would have been just as easy and relatively inexpensive. We really liked the fact that we weren't right in Siena - it would've been too noisy and chaotic. The grounds surrounding the hotel are beautiful - it felt like a quiet retreat in the countryside. The place really is picturesque (it looks better than in the photos on the website - you'll be pleasantly surprized).

The cleanliness of the hotel exceeded my expectations - I was impressed, to say the least, as our room was spotless! The staff were extremely helpful and gracious. We had a room (as opposed to an apartment) but still shopped at the supermarket near the hotel and kept some small things in the mini-fridge provided in the room. Being able to do laundry was a pure luxury.

The Borgo Grondaie is a veritable treasure - excellent value and fantastic charm (and great for families, too). We would go back in a heartbeat and recommend it unconditionally!
