This is a gorgeous hotel, twenty minutes walk outside old Siena, atop a hill with great views of the city. The staff are very pleasant and helpful; the breakfasts fabulous (wonderful cappucino). The little apartments are beautifully furnished, and the grounds are indescribably beautiful--hydrangeas, lemon trees, an olive grove, etc. There's a fabulous pool, and the whole place is very child-friendly. Internet is free, and there's a nice little bar, and a good selection of local wines. It's a five minute walk to a huge supermarket, where we stocked up on all our food for the week for seventy euro.

We spent three weeks in Europe on something of a grand tour (seven cities). I had done all my own research on places to stay and selected all our hotels. While most were satisfactory and a couple were very good, the Borgo Grondaie was clearly the nicest, most appealing place we stayed. Our room was relatively large and comfortable and, though the breakfast lacked hot items such a scrambled eggs, it was certainly satisfactory. What appealed to us the most was the general atmosphere of the Borgo. The pool was very refreshing after a long hot day of walking around Siena, and the four acre grounds themselves were very attractive. Our two favorite moments were the delicious capuccinos that we enjoyed in bed every morning and the bottle of Brunello that we shared in the cute patio "oasis" at the far end of the property. Other reviewers have mentioned the fact that the Borgo's location requires those without a car to take a bus or taxi to the old city. For us the location away from the crowds was a delightful change from our downtown hotels in Paris and Florence, and well worth any inconvenience.

We loved staying here. It is a 5 minute drive to the main part of Sienna or you can take a cab. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Rooms were nice and cool and quiet. We had an apartment with one bedroom and pullout couch in living room. Beds were comfortable. We also had a small kitchenette (you clean yourself or you pay). There is a washing machine for guests to use and a line to hang up your clothes to dry. The pool was nice but you have to pay 2.50 euro to rent a towel. Free internet (did not reach our room but worked in lobby). Breakfast was very nice (8 euro per person if you are in the apartments). I would stay here again. Sienna is magical and this hotel contributed to that feeling.

This hotel located on a hill just minutes away from the downtown Siena is a great place to stay if you want to relax. It consists of several villa type buildings surrounded by calming and relaxing surrounding. If you want you can sit and read your book or you can lay down by the outdoor pool. The rooms are clean and have every amenity that you can think of. The staff is very helpful and they are prompt to help you with your needs. The breakfast was delicious as well. The only downside is it is not within walking distance to the city center so you have to drive there which takes only less than 5 minutes. You have to park at a parking garage which costs around 10 euros but considering the great rate that you can get at this hotel it is all worth it. I was there with a friend of mine and I will definitely stay there next time when I go back with my boyfriend.

Borgo Grandaie was recommended to us by a family friend who is from Italy and familiar with the region of Siena, in Tuscana.
My husband and I spent two and a half weeks roaming Italy and we truly found this lovely setting at Borgo Grondaie to be our most pleasurable of places to stay.
The staff is to be highly commended for their attention to detail when meeting the needs of the clientele. It was impressive that so many of the staff were multilingual as well.
The breakfast meals were a pleasant surprise from the typical Italian breakfast we had been exposed to. At Borgo we found a variety of breakfast foods that were fresh and tasteful and wonderful ambiance to boot!
Amina Sabatini, the booking manager, was exceptional with assisting in finding us lovely lodging elsewhere when our 3 day booking ended and we needed elsewhere to stay. She was readily available to give suggestions or make bookings for dinner reservations for private or group tours of the wine vineyards or Siena activities.Amina, along with Antonio and Chan, and the entire staff were cheerful, abundantly helpful and welcoming.
The villa we lodged in was meticulously cleaned and daily refreshed by the housekeeping staff.
The spacious grounds were handsomely manicured; there were beautiful flowering plants and fruit trees in abundance over the entire resort, benches and reclining chairs dotted the grounds stragically and were most inviting for serene resting spots to sit, read, or enjoy quiet conversation, etc.
I could go on.............I will most assuredly book reservations at Borgo again should I return to Italy.
Andrea T., thank you for your excellent recommendation.

This was our second stay at Borgo Grondaie, and we were as pleased this time as we were the first. The rooms and bathrooms are large by European standards. Breakfast was excellent. Staff did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. Linens were nice. There was a washing machine available at no cost. (Drying had to be done on a rack.) Parking was free. Wi-fi was free in the lobby, including a computer available for those who do not have one.

This hotel is hard to find, so be sure to get good directions. Also, guests should not expect the location to be the classic Tuscan hilltop setting. It is on the outskirts of Siena, two or three blocks from the train station, but it is a great compromise setting for those who need to travel into or from the area by train or bus. The back and sides of the property are beautiful, but from one direction, it is clearly a city/suburb hotel.
