A very nice medieval city that actually preserved the historic center. Very beautiful and full of life during the day and at night.

I have visited a lot of Italian towns, this one is soooo nice. Not owercrowed by tourists, you can see Italians among them 50/50. Except, you have to avoid the Paglio. The town has its magic.

This city is a must see if you are in the area. It is an old walled city with beautiful paths weaving all through the historic city. There are many places to eat, great shops that you can buy local crafts and touristy crafts. The food is delicious, the gelato is a must. Just walking around the city streets is worth it. It's full of history and culture. I love that it hasn't been swallowed by tourism. The city center is a must see and a great starting point for exploring the rest of the city. Look online ahead of time for parking lots because you can't drive into the city for them without challenges. If you want free parking get there early and you have to park outside of the walls and walk a ways if the parking on the sides of the street are full.

We got to Siena in a very hot day, but the Centro Storico has so many narrow shady streets that we were shielded from the sizzling sun during most of our walk, which was a big plus! Eventually every visitor ends up at the Piazza del Campo but just walking around in the side streets away from the crowd is a great way to work up an appetite to then sit down at one of they many options for lunch or dinner in Siena.
