Was super hungry when we arrived in Siena and just wanted to grab the first thing I came across that looked halfway decent. The people coming out of La Torfea all looked like they were enjoying their slices and the aromas coming out the door were enticing so we decided to try it. We went in with low expectations as it's right on the corner of the piazza, mobbed with tourists.
So happy with our decision! Delicious, hot, fresh pizza in a multitude of flavors. had the sausage & hot salami and it was very tasty. 2.30 Euro/slice (other types were less), soft drinks were 1.50; the beers were reasonably priced. The young woman serving was all on her own taking orders & payment and had a smile on her face & a friendly word for each customer, despite language barriers and too many people in a small space.
We were able eat at one of the two standup tables by the windows so we could watch what was happening on the Piazza del Campo while staying out of the way of the clutch of people squeezing into this little pizza shop. If you can't get the table, no worries, just head out the door and stretch out in the Piazza like the locals!
