I stayed two nights at Casale Virgili with a friend. Both of us are watercolor artists and we really enjoyed the ambience of this B&B, with its historic buildings, beautiful flowering trees, and scenic vistas. We sketched on the property as well as on day trips into the countryside and to Siena. Our room was immaculately clean, tidy, and nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and they even went the extra mile to give me gluten free bread and coffee cake when I inquired about it. Internet was a bit inconvenient as we usually could only get a signal when we sat near the office which was in a separate building from our room. Occasionally I got a signal near the window in our room. Never enough speed to Skype, however. That small inconvenience was negligible when measured against all the positives at Casale Virgili. Roberto, our host, spoke very good English and was helpful in so many ways: recommended a restaurant with a wonderful gluten free menu, gave us sightseeing guidance, helped me figure out the bus schedule and even gave me a ticket to use, bought new fuses for my transformer and wouldn't even let me pay him for them. We enjoyed seeing the wine cellar and hearing about his family history. He was welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and his wife was a sweetie, too. If I get a chance to go to Tuscany again, I'll definitely stay at Casale Virgili.
