“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 11 June 2009

Spent two nights here last week. Would like to have spent longer! Very helpful and pleasant staff on the desk. Beautiful view from room which bright and clean. Breakfast in the garden a highlight.
About 10minutes to walk into Siena but this is not a problem at all. All in all, a great place to stay and we would return

Based on reviews, I expected more. The best thing about this place were the 2 phenomenal women who staffed the front desk. Attentive, knowledgeable, personable, helpful, patient, professional - absolutely top notch. Also, the breakfasts were lovely. Far more generous than the typical Italian coffee & sweet roll. Weather permitting, breakfast in the garden was the highlight here. That said, the rooms were a little tired - not elegant. Also, I need quiet, and the barking dogs & roar of motorcycles was extremely annoying. During the day, there is a school where the marching drum band was practicing - that got old in about 5 minutes.
Parking on the street was a plus, as we had a rental car. On the other hand, the charm of Siena is really within the city walls, where the architecture & sense of history will knock your socks off. If I could do it again, I would try to stay in the historic center.

The Hotel Villa Elda was absolutely fantastic, as a whole package. It's not the most luxurious or grandios hotel available, but it certainly is charming, romantic, personal, and perfectly situated just outside of the hustle and bustle of the main city, but simultaneously a short walks distance to immerse oneself in the excitement, culture and beauty of old time Siena (The Capmo, Duomo, et cetera). My wife and I spent a few nights there on our honeymoon adventure throughout Italy, and found it to have everything we desired in a hotel. The best part for us was the friendly Husband and Wife proprietors who welcomed us warmly, treated us like royalty throughout our stay, and provided us with a wonderful send off upon departure. There is even a friendly cat in the garden who will greet you at breakfast. I look forward to our return to the little Villa, and would recommend it to anyone!

My husband and I stayed here for just one night while passing through Siena on our way to Rome. Now we wish we had budgeted a couple of more days here. Siena is gorgeous and Villa Elda really excelled.

We had just completed a stay at a 5 star in London, a week in a luxury apartment in Paris, and a 5 star in Milan when we arrived in Siena. As far as service goes, none of our previous stops could even compete with Elda. The service- unbelievable. When we checked in the person working practically read our minds. She made dinner reservations at the most incredible restaurant Osteria Da Divo. (See my review of that one for sure!) Their answer to almost every question is yes with a smile.

They were so accomodating and friendly. The simple continental breakfast was lovely and way better than anything you'd ever expect here in the U.S. They even make you fresh espresso to order. I've never had a continental breakfast like that here at home.

On a map, it might look like its a little distance from town, but it's not at all. When she first pulled out the map to show us how to get to our dinner, my eyes popped at how far it looked. She said it was about a 15 minute walk. It didn't even take that long. It really is quite close to the town square and can be walked in minutes. The neighborhood is quiet and safe so I'd rather stay here than in all the noise in the town center at night.

The rooms are a little sparse and not the coziest for lounging around. But they are cute and super clean. Besides, you should be spending all your time out in the town savoring Siena!

I strongly recommend this hotel for those who does not have a car. Everything is in a walking distance, 10minute or so. Gerogia, the hostess, is really polite and she recommends the most delicious restaurants in Siena. Breakfast is O.K and room is clean. The price is very reasonble. The only thing that is uncomfortable is that there is no PC in the hotel. You can access to the internet if you have your own labtop. I did not bring my labtop to Italy and I could not access to the internet while staying in the hotel.

Overall it was a very nice place to spend a couple nights. But definitely use your GPS to find the place, their directions where beyond poor and we were literally driving in circles for 20 minutes in Siena before we whipped out our GPS which got us there in a couple minutes. The room was a decent size and clean and the breakfast was adequate. It is a bit of a walk from the central area but not far enough to be a nuisance. Compared to our other hotels on the trip it felt a bit overpriced at 190 Euros/night and you do have to find your own street parking (which isnt too hard). And if you are on the top floor be prepared to drag your luggage up alot of stairs.
