I have found the best restaurant in Siena - after testing (Also the other one where Pavarotti went), three times to be sure.
This is one of two grate ones in Siena.
The service was very warm and polite. The food was good and you could tell it was made by someone that love to cook !

The staff were useless and got our order totally wrong. They tried to take my plate away before we had both finished. How rude! The starters were ok (just ok) but my steak was lovely (once they brought the right order). My partners tuna was mainly salad and little tuna. There was little to no atmosphere and too many hopeless staff for the amount of customers. It was too light inside and reminded me of a canteen rather than a restaurant. We had walked by this place earlier in the evening and tried to make a reservation but they had no idea of how to do so which should've set off the warning signs as you usually have to book a table when it has a good reputation. Clearly this restaurant doesn't and rightfully so with the standard of service, lack of atmosphere and ambience and overall quality of food. Totally overpriced too. Doomed to fail I think. I would rather have had a pizza takeaway and I don't do takeaways!!!

Thank you for posting your review of Vivace, feedback is very important to us to enable us to improve. As you were probably aware the restaurant had only been open 2 days and we were in the process of getting our systems in place and trying to train the staff. As with any new business there are teething problems but the fact that we had the Palio on in Siena at the time made everything so much harder and unfortunately chaos set in. We have made a conscious decision not to take reservations, not because we do not know how to, but because we have a large enough seating area outside to accommodate our customers. Everyday we are working hard to improve are systems so that the restaurant runs as smoothly as possibile and working with staff to offer the best in service.
We can only hope that you will give us a second chance in the future …..we apologize for your disappointing experience.

I'd walked past with my wife a few times as we were staying nearby and liked the look of the place - esp. the grassed outdoor eating area at the back. We rushed back there straight after the Palio to make sure we got a table & were seated in the lovely outdoor area.
But the waitress/service was dreadful. I can only assume it's a new place & the staff don't know each other/their own jobs yet.
We were variously forgotten, offered other people's food, offered our drinks order again (in a new configuration), and confused by what on earth was going on.
I did sympathise with the waitress as she was clearly having a nightmare with every table she was serving; not just ours, and could see the other (good) barman & the chef(!!) trying to make up for it and delivering food & drink.
The food was actually pretty good when it came out, and the bill was very reasonable, but they HAVE to train their staff better.
Avoid until the service improves.

We really do hope you give Vivace a second chance… as mentioned in our replies to the other reviewers, our opening coincided with the Palio of Siena..this in itself is a hectic time for all restaurants in Siena and due to this and the whole scenario with staff training and coordinating the kitchen proved to be a disastrous time for us. We are striving to improve in all areas on a daily basis and now feel positive that we can give our customers a positive dining experience in a unique location.
