“Like coming home!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

I almost hesitate to share positive reviews of Vinci- I want it to stay just like it is!!! We loved our stay at Podere Zollaio, in Casa Anita. Chiara, Lisa and Ian are wonderful hosts. Chiara helped us with some information- one of which the recommended wine tour at Villa Dianella was one of the highlights of out stay. Beautiful!!!! She also reminded me to book museum tickets ahead which is key to avoid the lines. She helped us with train schedules, and even printed a weather report to help us plan our days. The accomodations were clean, comfy, inviting. Kitchen was well equipped for simple meals (loved the sharp knives!), we were welcomed with wine and olive oil from the property. Beyond that, an abundance of wine was available as desired and was quite good! The property is lovely, many very sweet outdoor cats, Camille the donkey and Martina the goat. We were surrounded by olive trees and vineyards and it is a short, scenic walk into Vinci. Ah, Vinci. The views from our deck and anywhere on the property were FABULOUS. Vinci is located just west of Florence, 1/2 hour by the train in Empoli. Some of our day trips included: Florence (Segway Tour- a must-do!), Siena, San Gimignano, Saturnia (Cascate del Mulino), Pisa, Volterra, Montecatini Terme, Follonica, Monsummano Terme, Anchiano and of course Vinci! Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo, is a small town with a castle that's been converted to a museum featuring built replicas of Leonardo's designs. Lots of history and a short, scenic walk takes you up to his home in the hills which offers a spectacular view and a short movie of his life that's worth the trip. There is a ceramic shop, Ceramiche D'arte Cannatella whose artist in residence, Antonio, is not only friendly and welcoming but has a beautiful selection of his wares. We didn't have the best weather during our stay, so we enjoyed the hot tub on cooler evenings and loved the pool on the hotter days. While it was fun visiting the bigger cities, it was heavenly returning to our Casa Anita with her beautiful views and tranquil setting. Highly recommend this property!!!!!

“Loved the Mansarda apartment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We just returned from a six night stay at the Mansarda studio apartment. It really is the perfect, relaxing Tuscan vacation spot. The studio is spacious and well equipped and everything, including the wine, olive oil and visiting cat makes for a very comfortable stay. We loved sitting our on our own little balcony and enjoying the wine and the sun setting over the olive trees, the vineyards and the town of Vinci. It's a great central location for exploring Tuscany. We loved our stay and will be back as soon as we are able. Thanks to Chiara, Lisa, Ian and Indy for a great time!
