Maybe you have to be a combination of Industrial Archaeologist and engineer to really get the ultimate out of this, but it is fascinating at many levels. Do not expect much more than models made to the sketches he did, but these models are great. Just working out how they work, and because he was using just the very simple materials and mechanical tools of the time, it absorbed my interest for a long time. I could have happily stayed longer but the other party members wanted to move on after two hours

The museum is split between the main block and the upper level of the castle (just 150metres away) and the view from the top of the castle is worth the climb. Can be very crowded at weekends and in the summer. We went on Tuesday in June and there were enough people to be 'occupied' but not enough to impede enjoyment.

We have visited Vinci Village in Tuscany, knowing that it holds the Leonardian Museum and I can say that it was truly worth the afternoon.

The museum itself is very-well documented and it has plenty of smaller-scale models of many of Leonardo's inventions, it's very well divided into different rooms and chapters consisting of the various fields in which the master activated and offers a truly remarkable glimpse into this extraordinary mind of a brilliant scientist and a devoted artist.

The town itself is also beautiful, a small, but well-kept, pretty village, with stunning views over the golden wheat fields below, the numerous olive orchards and the well-renowned vineyards surrounding the area.

You can also visit his birthplace, located in the near-by village of Anchiano (located in a peaceful olive orchard), where you continue to find valuable information about Leonardo da Vinci's personal life, this time.

From my point of view, it's a must see place for all the people that admire da Vinci's work!!

In a tiny lovely village on top of a beautiful Tuscan hill you can watch the early work of Leonardo da Vinci. He was an engineer and a dreamer. It is amazing to see how many great ideas this one individual created single handedly. After inspired visit in this museum go to the house he was born in and grew up, just outside the village. Vinci definitely worth a detour !

As a fan of Leonardo's work, i was excited about coming to the museum. The restorations were very nice. Honestly, I expected much more than only restorations, maybe showing parts of his diaries, paintings etc. Even so, if you get to Vinci don't miss this attraction.
