Owner description: The farm-house where Leonardo da Vinci was probably born.

We came to Leonardo's birth place after being in the museum. It's a must see atraction although there is almost nothing interesting to see. The view from the house is nice but you can find a great view almost everywhere in Italy. A great appreciation to the staff who keeps the place nice and clean despite all the visitors.

After visiting the town of Vinci, we went to look at the birthplace of Leonardo. Beautiful place in the middle of Tuscany, house where Leonardo was born, surrounded by olive grove. From the outside, everything is accessible, but I suggest you to buy a ticket. There is a nice visualization of Leonard, telling the story of his life. Vizializace is in Italian and English.

We visited the nearby Leonardo Da Vinci Museum but this place was the highlight of our trip to Vinci (at least for me). Located on sort of a ridge on a quiet country road just 10 minutes driving or so from Vinci town center, the house and yard provide incredible vistas of the Tuscan countryside in both directions. It may have helped that we were there in May, and the weather was great and wildflowers were in full bloom.
The house itself does not contain many artifacts and exhibits but does have an interesting holographic video presentation of and elderly Leonardo recounting the story of his life (alternates in English and Italian).
There is a parking lot nearby where tourist buses stop and cars can park, and this is also a good place to take a photo with a countryside vista in the background. When we visited, there was also a very nice (and large) food stall, where Tuscan specialties could be bought (both for taking out and eating right there).
While we were there, it seemed like bus after bus of Italian schoolchildren were arriving (clearly a popular destination for school trips), and it was somewhat difficult to see what few displays were present in the museum undisturbed. Possibly if you go at different times of the week/year you have better luck in that regard. However, for me personally, just the incredible location and visiting the (outside) of the building was well worth the trip in itself.

While the vista is beautiful and the halogram of 'Leonardo' giving us his life history entertaining, there really aren't that much to look at in house. On a hot summer's day, it is quite unbearable sitting in that room watching the video.

There is an interesting video to watch, but we learnt much more about Leanoardo da Vinici from the museum. The house can be seen in a 20minute stop off.
