“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 7 July 2013 via mobile

We have been in Assisi a few times over the past years but this was our first visit to La Fortezza Ristorante and we were not dissappointed. The restaurant overall presents very well, an excellent menu and our meals were first rate. One little issue was with the service, not too much of it. The older attendant was pretty much there for show. Try it out!

“LA Fortezza Great Food, Wine and Service”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

I followed my now wife to Assisi 6 years ago from California to beg her to marry me and while we were eating at La Fortezza, she finally agreed to marry me.
Ever since then we have returned to Assisi each year (usually twice a year) and each time we have eaten at La Fortezza sometimes at lunch and sometimes at dinner, Once we enjoyed our Festa di Matrimonia with twenty odd friends at La Fortezza.
Alberto is a great major domo with excellent wine selection every time. Katiya is a chef par excellence. The food is superb and the service matches.
We usually strike up a conversation with other guests, and find them to be interesting and eclectic from all over the world.

“Superb local restaurant in a busy town.”
Reviewed 19 April 2013

This will be a big year for Assisi but La Fortezza will cope. Set just off the main street, all that this restaurant lacks is a panoramic view - everything else is superb. Visiting at lunchtime we were warmly welcomed and treated with consideration. The food was just excellent, distinctive with good variety and very reasonably priced. A good wine list. Not to be missed.

“Recommended by the staff at Pallotta”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

My son and I took a day trip from Perugia to Assisi (on Easter Saturday so it was packed!) without lunch reservations; we tried two different places recommended on trip advisor and both were full but the staff at Pallotta recommended Fortezza; we easily got a table and we seemed to be the only non-Italians there; we got the 31 Euro tasting menu and a bottle of Rosso di Assisi (local table wine); the service was leisurely (which was good--we were in no rush and the restaurant was busy but not full) and pleasant (very old school and formal); here's my assessment:

starters: proscuitto and carpaccio of wild boar with pecorino: both excellent
pasta: tagliatelle with lamb (excellent) and ravioli (only ok)
main dish: pigeon (excellent but a ridiculously small portion) and grilled lamb (very good and there were three pieces we could supplement the pigeon)
contorni: roasted potatoes with rosemary (fine) and half a stuffed zucchini (really mediocre)
dessert: ok this was fabulous: tiramisu and a chocolate torte that was wonderful (and I'm fussy about desserts);
Good/pleasant / not a place I'd go out of my way to eat at again

With water and wine the bill was seventy six fifty;

“Best meal in Assisi”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

We went here for lunch and were amazed at the flavor and quality of the food. I ate wild boar cooked in a wine sauce and it was absolutely perfect with a wonderful stout flavor. I didn't want the meal to be over. We had the house wine and liked it as well. The waiter was thorough and polite. The price was reasonable for the quality of food. There was no service charge added to our meal. We will definitely be returning here on our next trip to Italy.
