We have been at B&B All'Ombra di San Damiano. The place outside is wonderful, but unfortunately we had no time to enjoy it.
The guy at the reception was actually very kind. But in the morning it became quite loud because the rooms are nothing else than the rooms of an old country house and they are neither insulated from the other rooms' noise nor from the reception noise.

Julio is the owner of the B&B and was so friendly from the moment we entered to the parking place. Actually he was friendly even before we had arrived. Immediately after website booking, 2 months beforehand, Julio informed us by e-mail that he has a small dog, Lillo, and if we have any worries about it he will manage to keep the dog in another area of the house. It was a kind of a nice surprise. As dog's lovers, we didn't mind at all. Lillo is a small happy dog and adding lots of joy. It seemed that the other guests had fun too with the dog.
Julio's recommendations about restaurants ( La Tavola Rotonda / Pizzeria), hiking (Bosco di San Francesco / FAI) were to our taste, and his "secret" free car parking close to the old town's gate.
It was easy to find the location by GPS- Google Maps. The house is a nice stone-walled building, our room was big, clean, big bathroom and working Wi-FI. The breakfast was modest, similar to what other B&B are serving. Cappuccino - as much as we liked.
We stayed 2 nights at the beginning of October 2013, and would like to recommend this B&B to other travelers who wish for friendly hospitality by the owner.

We stayed here for the last couple of days of our trip to Umbria and were very pleased with the b & b and the overall experience. The owner, Giulio was extremely hospitable and very helpful. He collected us from Perugia airport and offered to drive us up to Assissi as, though it is only 600m away, it is quite a steep hill.

The rooms were spotlessly clean with a big super king bed and more importantly... Air conditioning! We both slept well in the very quiet location and awoke to a continental breakfast.

There is seating at the front of the house which we used to relax before heading up to Assissi to explore. I would advise that you bring a torch if you are planning to walk back to the hotel at night (no street lights)

Overall, we were hugely impressed with our stay at the B&B All' Umbra di San Damiano which was made by Giulio and Lilo (the very friendly dog). Would definitely return if we were in the area!

For all those who love nature, peace, biking, trekking and beautiful landscape is the perfect place. Located few hundred meters from Assisi and a car ride from Spello.
The owner of the house is amazingly friendly and simple man that made us feel All'ombra di San Damiano at home. The place itself is newly restructured and very clean, during the warm days you can enjoy the garden with a panoramic view on the valley.
We truly recommend this place.

This local family residence is absolutely gorgeous, tucked away amongst olive trees at the foot of the hill up to Assisi. The rooms are immaculate, and we were pleased to finally have a full bed after dealing with a lot of single beds pushed together throughout our honeymoon. We slept so well in the dark, quiet room that we actually slept through breakfast! The owner was so nice, however, that we did not miss out on the nice meal. We would highly recommend this off-the-road abode to anyone traveling through Umbria.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice!
