This is a quiet hotel especially good for those who know what they want and do not have unreasonable expectations.

The hotel is placed in a strategic location few hundred meters away from the main Basilica. The service is good, the rooms are worth the money you pay. It's quiet and clean.

Basically, we will be back again the next time around.

Room tip: get the room that gives on the valley. great view and more spacious.

We visited Assisi in October 2013 and stayed at this hotel for 1 night. We had a room on the first floor with a window looking onto the street below and across to the cathedral of St Claire. The shower was elevated and over the toilet (very strange set up). The lift was not working properly so we had to lug our suitcases down the stairs when leaving. When we mentioned this to the staff, they suggested that we didn't know how to operate the lift. Breakfast was basic and expensive. The location was good as it was a short walk to the central piazza but a long walk to the Basilica. We didn't mind this as the town is very interesting and it gave us the opportunity to explore whilst getting to the basilica and back. Would look for somewhere else if staying here again. Suggest you get a taxi from the train station to Assisi as it will be quicker and easier if managing with luggage. Loved the town!

Sadly, we only had one night to spend in Assisi on our latest vacation, so I wanted to make sure the hotel was within the town walls so we could walk to all of the sites. Hotel Roma was in an excellent location, just across the street from the impressive Cathedral of St. Claire. It was quite a hike to the Basilica of St. Francis, but the town is so pretty and fascinating that we certainly didn't mind the walk. Plus, it helped work off a bit of the pasta we had been eating!

The hotel does not have parking, so we had to use another lot (12 Euros a night). We were able to temporarily park out front to unload and load our luggage. The hotel is nicely decorated, and the rooms were larger than most of the others we had in Italy. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fine.

The clerk at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. He took the time to explain the main attractions to see in Assisi, giving us a handy map to help guide us.

When reserving the room I opted not to include breakfast as the price was rather high. Plus, we were departing early the next morning as we had quite a drive to Venice.

Overall, the location, cleanliness and price makes Roma Hotel a good value.

Nice hotel with extremely clean rooms. Plenty of space, ceiling fan and a refrigerator which was quite helpful for cold bottles of water. Front desk very helpful. Breakfast average but a little pricey - better to skip and stop at one of the nearby places for a coffee and roll. Location was inside the old town but at the other end of town from the basilica which makes it close in but away from the masses. Located just inside one of the main "gates" with a bus stop there. This makes getting around without a car quite easy. It was about 15 mins from the hotel to the train station by bus.

The Hotel was very good for the price.Comfortable room ,OK staff, clean,no food included, and located right across from the Historical Santa Chiara church. There are restaurants and mini markets nearby,,. the walk to the Assisi Cathedral is long ,up and down hill but beautiful, you will find Piazzas with restaurants, bars, cafes, ice cream/gelato places and many historical buildings and majestic views of the valley. when we arrived to the train station we bought round trip tickets for the public transportation bus to the entrance of the Historical Assisi walls ,5 minutes walk to the hote. Advice * if you travel by train you must VALIDATE tickets before boarding or inspectors can fine you up to 50 euros. You will be glad you visited Assisi.....Have a good trip.
