Gabriella makes staying at her hotel memorable. She is rightfully proud of her establishment as part of the historic buildings of Assisi. It is important for me to stay inside the city walls and so centrally located. I am amazed that these rooms are kept within the guidelines of these ancient buildings while updating them enough to make them convenient for today's visitors. We found the rooms tastefully decorated and appreciated the safe and mini bar. Breakfast was typical and graciously offered. Wifi was easily connected outside my room, but then stayed connected back in the room. The views were outstanding. Thank you Gabriella for your touring advice and restaurant suggestions. Both were great.

While in Assisi in late February 2014, we stayed one night in the Hotel Hermitage, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived at check-in, we were made to feel like special guests. The staff was very helpful, and we were given a map of the town and given ideas as to how to maximize our time, to see the best things in town and best food to enjoy. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was available right when we were ready. Not to mention that Assisi is an incredibly beautiful town with a lot to see, and the Hotel Hermitage is ideally located right in the center of town, with ease of navigation to all major attractions. Plus, our room (Verdi) had a good view of the Umbrian countryside below the town. When we go back to Assisi, we will definitely be staying at the Hotel Hermitage again.

Room Tip: There doesn't seem to be a bad room at this hotel.

We spent five nights at Hotel Hermitage in February and enjoyed our stay. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were given great suggestions for restaurants and the sights we wanted to see. Our room and bathroom were spacious and very clean and the breakfast was very good. We did not get wifi in our room but were able to get it in the breakfast or lounge area which was just as good. We got to know the staff very well after five days and were sad to leave!

We stayed here in February for 5 nights to visit family. It is a very warm place with a cozy, home-like atmosphere, not far from the Basilica. Gabriella would greet us every evening and was always very reassuring and congenial [her English was a lot better than our Italian!!!]. Barbara [or Babs] would be ready with breakfast every morning with a smiling, pleasant demeanor. This set the tone for each of our days in Assisi, and her amazing cappuccinos didn't hurt, either! The rooms were cozy and our room's bathroom even featured a heated floor which came in handy on those damp Umbrian days. Our room, Verdi, was on the main floor and we did manage to get a view over some of the Umbrian countryside. If you want more of a view, then request a room on the 1st, as opposed to the main, floor. Keep in mind that the hotel's front door is not on a street but on a stairway that runs between 2 streets. Assisi is built entirely on a hillside so the location is an ideal introduction to walking up and down the hills that make this town enchanting.

A great place to stay in Assisi; A small hotel with big hospitality; from the owner to the room maid.We stayed 5 nights in Assisi for a retreat last October. The staff made our stay feel like home away from home; The suite was small but comfortable ., and is close to the Basilica.
We will definitely go back.

The Hermitage is a jewel. It is a short walk up a hill but so worth it. I have great calves right now. :)
The greeting from Gabriella when we arrived was warm, inviting and so informative, She suggested some great places for us to visit and places to eat. We were in the Cezanne room on the second floor and the view was spectacular. It really took my breath away. Barbara, who greeted us in the morning was a delight. She was a great start to our day as we had breakfast. On the day we were leaving Assisi there was a transportation strike and Barbara went out of her way to help us find a way to Rome. Lastly, if you find yourself at the HERMITAGE make sure you make time to sit on the patio and sip some wine. Thank you Gabriella (the owner) and Barbara for making our stay so great!!!

Assisi is a "must see" and the Hermitage was wonderful. The staff was warm and friendly. The view of the city was spectacular but came at the cost of a hill climb. But hills are a part of Assisi. Tiny rooms but immaculate and comfortable.
